Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Senegalese players who are currently playing abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is former U18 international center Youssoupha Fall (221-95, currently plays in France). He could not help SIG Strasbourg (7-4) in their last game. Despite Fall's very good performance SIG Strasbourg lost 75-85 on the road to the much lower-ranked (#14) JSF Nanterre. He was the top scorer with 21 points. Fall also added 6 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 22 minutes on the court. It was SIG Strasbourg's first loss after four consecutive victories. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Fall has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 18.3ppg, 9.0rpg, 1.9bpg, 2FGP: 72.4%(55-76) and FT: 58.1% in seven games he played so far. Fall played for the Senegalese U18 national team six years ago.

Youssou Ndoye

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Youssou Ndoye (213-91, college: St.Bonaventure, currently plays in France). He led JL Bourg to a victory over the 16th-ranked Le Portel (2-9) 89-84 in the French ProA last Friday. Ndoye was MVP of the game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 29 points and getting 11 rebounds. Ndoye also added 3 assists and 2 blocks. JL Bourg Basket (9-2) is placed fourth in the ProA. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. But the season just started, so everything may happen. This year Ndoye has very high stats. He averages: 16.3ppg, 9.3rpg, 1.8bpg, 2FGP: 67.3%(72-107), 3FGP: 33.3% and FT: 68.1%. Ndoye is in the roster of the Senegalese senior national team.

Hamady N'Diaye

   #3. The Senegalese player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center Hamady N'Diaye (213-87, college: Rutgers, currently plays in Italy). He was not able to help Sidigas AV in their game against Umana Venezia (7-1) in the Italian Serie A. N'Diaye scored 9 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and made 4 blocks. But Sidigas AV was crushed 79-49 at home by the second-ranked Umana Venezia. They ended the series of four consecutive victories. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. N'Diaye's overall stats this season are: 7.3ppg, 4.4rpg, 2.4bpg, 2FGP: 65.9%(27-41). He has a dual citizenship: Senegalese and Filipino. N'Diaye is also a member of the Senegalese senior national team.

Mouhammad Faye

   #4. An experienced forward Mouhammad Faye (207-85, college: SMU, currently plays in ABA League) contributed to a Crvena Zvezda's victory against the sixth-ranked Partizan (4-5) 77-71 in a derby game in the ABA League last Saturday. He scored 11 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 28 minutes. Crvena Zvezda MTS Beograd (9-0) is placed first in the ABA League. So far his team won all nine games in the Regular Season. This year Faye's overall stats are: 9.4ppg, 5.6rpg and 1.2bpg in nine games. He is also Senegalese national team player.

Babacar Toure

   #5. Former international power forward Babacar Toure (205-85, currently plays in Switzerland) was the main contributor in Fribourg's victory against the league outsider Starwings (0-8) crushing them 106-68 in the Swiss SBL in Saturday night's game. Toure was the best player in that game. He scored 23 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 26 minutes. Fribourg Olympic (6-0) is placed first in the SBL. So far his team won all six games in the Regular Season. Toure has very impressive stats this year: 16.0ppg, 9.1rpg and 1.6apg in seven games. He used to play for the Senegalese national team four years ago.

   #6. Center Cheikh Mbodj (208-87, agency: Octagon Europe, college: Cincinnati, currently plays in Poland) was not able to secure a victory for Twarde Pierniki (6-2) in their game against MKS Dabrowa Gornicza (5-4) in the Polish EBL. Mbodj scored 9 points and blocked 2 shots. But Twarde Pierniki was defeated 93-84 in Dabrowa Gornicza by the lower-ranked MKS Dabrowa Gornicza (#8). Mbodj has relatively good stats this season: 10.4ppg, 6.9rpg and 2.4bpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Senegalese National Team roster.

   #7. Former international center Moussa Diagne (211-94, currently plays in Spain) managed to help MoraBanc Andorra in a victory against the 12th-ranked Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (4-6) 85-79 in the Spanish Liga Endesa on Saturday night. He recorded 5 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 20 minutes. MoraBanc Andorra (5-5) is placed eighth in the Liga Endesa. This year Diagne's total stats are: 6.8ppg and 4.7rpg in 10 games. Worth to mention Diagne played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. He used to play for the Senegalese national team two years ago.

   #8. Center Gorgui Dieng (211-90, college: Louisville, currently plays in NBA) helped Minnesota Timberwolves win their game against the Brooklyn Nets (8-14) 112-102 in the NBA in Friday night's game. Dieng scored 9 points and blocked 2 shots. The Minnesota Timberwolves have 11-11 record this season. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. It's Dieng's sixth year with the team. He has averaged so far 5.4ppg and 4.2rpg. Dieng plays currently for the Senegalese national team.

   #9. Former international power forward Jules Aw (202-86, currently plays in Switzerland) helped Massagno win their game against the seventh-ranked Boncourt (3-5) 81-64 in the Swiss SBL last Sunday. He was the top player that evening. Aw scored 22 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 35 minutes. SAM Basket Massagno (6-0) is placed first in the SBL. So far his team won all six games in the Regular Season. Aw has very impressive stats this year: 16.7ppg, 11.4rpg, 1.5apg and 2.1spg in 10 games. He used to play for the Senegalese national team eleven years ago.

   #10. Center Pape Faye (200-87, currently plays in Japan) helped Osaka Evessa win their game against the sixth-ranked Levanga Hokkaido Sapporo (4-15) 90-76 in the Japanese B League in Saturday night's game. Faye recorded 12 points. Osaka Evessa (8-11) is placed fourth in West group. This season Faye has relatively solid stats: 10.1ppg, 5.8rpg and 1.3apg. He is international player as one years ago he still played for the Senegalese senior national team.

   #11. Former international center Bamba Fall (217-86, college: SMU, currently plays in Latvia) helped TLU/Kalev win their game against the 12th-ranked Latvijas Universitate 66-53 in the Latvian LatEstBL last Sunday. Fall scored 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in only 12 minutes. Fall has reliable stats this year: 10.3ppg, 6.2rpg and 1.5bpg in 11 games. He used to play for the Senegalese national team eleven years ago.

   #12. U18 international center Biram Faye (206-0, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Fontedoso Carrefour (4-6) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the eighth-placed Fontedoso Carrefour was badly defeated 86-67 in Santander by the higher-ranked (#5) Estela in the West group. Faye had a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 10 rebounds in 26 minutes. Faye's stats this year are: 11.8ppg, 7.7rpg and 1.2bpg in 10 games. He is also in the roster of the Senegalese U18 national team.

   #13. International guard Lamine Sambe (188-89, currently plays in France) couldn't help Rueil (5-7) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his very good performance Rueil (#11) was badly defeated 92-74 in Challans by the leading Vendee in the Group B. Sambe was the top scorer with 24 points. He also added 8 passes. This season Sambe has very high stats. He averages: 15.2ppg, 2.9rpg, 5.7apg and 1.2spg. Sambe is also Senegalese national team player.

   #14. International point guard Xane d'Almeida (181-83, currently plays in France) was the major contributor in Charleville-Mezieres' victory against the fifth-ranked Besancon 92-87 in the French NM1 (third division) last Saturday. He scored 21 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 6 assists. d'Almeida averaged so far 12.7ppg, 4.0rpg, 7.4apg and 1.3spg. He plays currently for the Senegalese national team.

   #15. Former international power forward Ibrahima Faye (207-97, currently plays in Belgium) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Leuven Bears in their game against Limburg United in the Belgian Euromillions League. Faye scored 8 points in 16 minutes. His team was badly defeated by 20 points 84-64. Faye has averaged so far 9.9ppg, 9.7rpg, 1.7apg, 1.3bpg and 1.1spg in seven games. He used to play for the Senegalese national team two years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Senegalese passport but never been selected to any of Senegalese national teams:

   #1. Amath M'Baye (206-F-89, college: Oklahoma, currently plays in Italy) could not help one of league's weakest teams Virtus Bologna (4-4) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Virtus Bologna was edged 89-86 on the road by the higher-ranked (#7) VL Pesaro. M'Baye scored 16 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and made 3 blocks in 28 minutes. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. It's M'Baye's first year with the team. He has relatively good stats this season: 10.3ppg, 3.9rpg and 1.4apg in eight games he played so far. M'Baye has a dual citizenship: Senegalese and French.

   #2. Lamine Diane (201-F-97, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA was not able to help the CS Northridge in their last game on Tuesday. Despite Diane's very good performance his team was defeated 103-94 at home by the Washington State University. He recorded a double-double by scoring 32 points and getting 18 rebounds. Diane also added 5 blocks. Diane has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 26.2ppg, 11.4rpg, 2.6apg, 2.2bpg and 2.4spg.

   #3. Malik Dime (206-F/C-92, college: Washington, currently plays in Finland) was not able to secure a victory for Ura Basket (5-8) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Dime's very good performance Ura Basket was badly defeated 94-78 in Salo by the leading Vilpas. He recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points and getting 11 rebounds. Dime also added 3 assists. It's Dime's first season with the team. This year he has very high stats. Dime averages: 16.8ppg, 12.6rpg, 3.5bpg and 1.2spg. He is another player who holds two passports: Senegalese and American.

   #4. Tacko Fall (229-C-95, currently studies in the States) led Cent.Florida to a victory against the Northern Kentucky University 66-53 in the NCAA in Saturday night's game. Fall recorded 20 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 23 minutes. The University of Central Florida has conference record this season. Fall is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Cent.Florida's roster. This season he has relatively solid stats: 11.4ppg, 7.0rpg and 2.7bpg in seven games.

   #5. Atoumane Diagne (215-C-98, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Barca II (3-7) in their last game on Friday. Despite Diagne's very good performance Barca II was defeated 85-81 in Castellon by the higher-ranked Castello (#14). He recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 13 rebounds. Diagne also added 3 blocks. Diagne has averaged so far 9.5ppg, 7.5rpg, 1.1apg and 1.7bpg.

   #6. Ilimane Diop (210-C-95, currently plays in Euroleague) couldn't help Baskonia in their game against Anadolu Efes in the Euroleague. He cannot count Friday's game as one of the best ones. Diop recorded only 2 points in 12 minutes. His team lost 85-96. Diop has averaged so far 4.8ppg and 3.1rpg in 10 games. He has both Senegalese and Spanish nationalities.

   #7. Michel Diouf (208-C-89, currently plays in Denmark) managed to help Bakken Bears to win against the sixth-ranked Horsens IC 110-98 in the Danish BasketLigaen on Friday night. Diouf scored 5 points. Diouf has averaged so far 7.1ppg, 5.3rpg and 1.1apg.

   #8. Boubacar Toure (211-C, is currently at the American university), who plays in the NCAA couldn't help the E.Michigan in their last game. Despite his very good performance his team was badly defeated 87-69 on their home court in Ypsilanti by the Texas Christian University. Toure had a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 12 rebounds in 31 minutes. Toure's stats this year are: 11.5ppg, 9.3rpg and 2.1bpg in eight games.

   #9. Bira Seck (204-PF-90, agency: Interperformances, college: Idaho, currently plays in Japan) was the major contributor in a Tokyo Cinq Reves' victory against the seventh-ranked Toyoda Gosei 77-66 in the Japanese B League D3 last Saturday. He recorded 18 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Seck averaged so far 12.2ppg, 7.3rpg and 1.4apg.

   #10. Mamadou Niang (209-C-94, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help CB Canarias in their game against Burgos in the Spanish Liga Endesa. Niang cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only one point. His team was defeated 79-68. Niang has averaged so far 1.2ppg and 1.6rpg.

Douanes, USO and DUC reached the 5th victories in the League. In the latest game Le Dakar Universite Club overcame Mermoz BC 73-51 at the Marius Ndiaye stadium. Douanes meanwhile handed in US Ouakam their first loss. They outscored the opponents 57-44 as both teams are with 5-1 records.   [read more]
