Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Senegalese players who are currently playing abroad.


Hamady N'Diaye
Hamady N'Diaye
   #1. This week's number one is an international center Hamady N'Diaye (213-87, college: Rutgers, currently plays in Italy). He led Sidigas AV to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams Dolomiti En. TR (1-5) crushing them 110-72 in the Italian Serie A in Saturday night's game. N'Diaye scored 20 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and made 3 blocks in 25 minutes on the court. Sidigas Avellino (3-2) is placed fifth in the Serie A. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. This year N'Diaye averages: 7.0ppg, 4.0rpg, 2.2bpg, 2FGP: 72.7%(16-22) and FT: 75.0% in five games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Senegalese and Filipino. N'Diaye is currently a member of the Senegalese senior national team.

Youssoupha Fall

   #2. Second place goes to former U18 international center Youssoupha Fall (221-95, currently plays in France). Fall was the major contributor in a SIG Strasbourg's victory against the closely-ranked Le Mans (5-4) 75-71 in the French ProA on Saturday night. He had a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting the same number of rebounds in 27 minutes. SIG Strasbourg (5-3) is placed fifth in the ProA. But the season just started, so everything may happen. It's Fall's first year with the team. Fall has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 16.0ppg, 10.0rpg, 1.3apg, 1.3bpg, 2FGP: 78.4%(29-37) and FT: 46.2% in four games. Fall played for the Senegalese U18 national team in 2012.

Mouhammad Faye

   #3. The Senegalese player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced international forward Mouhammad Faye (207-85, college: SMU, currently plays in ABA League). He led his Serbian team Crvena Zvezda to an easy victory against the tenth-ranked P.Olimpija (2-5) crushing them 83-60 in the ABA League in Saturday night's game. Faye recorded 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Crvena Zvezda MTS Beograd (7-0) is placed first in the ABA League. So far his team won all seven games in the Regular Season. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. Faye's overall stats this season are: 9.9ppg, 5.6rpg, 1.4bpg, 2FGP: 86.4%(19-22), 3FGP: 31.6% and FT: 81.3%. He is also a member of the Senegalese senior national team.

Moussa Diagne

   #4. Center Moussa Diagne (211-94, currently plays in EuroCup) led his Spanish team Andorra to a victory over the closely-ranked Galatasaray (2-1) 95-87 in the Eurocup last Wednesday. He was MVP of the game. Diagne scored 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 26 minutes. MoraBanc Andorra (3-3) is placed third in group A. There are only four games left until the end of the Eurocup Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Diagne's overall stats are: 9.3ppg and 5.2rpg in six games. He is another player who holds two passports: Senegalese and Spanish. Worth to mention Diagne played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. Diagne used to play for the Senegalese national team back in 2016.

   #5. International center Youssou Ndoye (213-91, college: St.Bonaventure, currently plays in France) could not help JL Bourg (6-2) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his very good performance JL Bourg was edged 78-76 on the road by the much lower-ranked Provence Basket (#16). Ndoye recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 4 blocks. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. Ndoye has relatively good stats this season: 14.3ppg, 8.3rpg and 1.9bpg. He plays currently for the Senegalese national team.

Cheikh Mbodj

   #6. Center Cheikh Mbodj (208-87, agency: Octagon Europe, college: Cincinnati, currently plays in Poland) contributed to an easy victory against the 12th-ranked Rosa (2-4) crushing them 92-56 in the Polish EBL in Saturday night's game. Mbodj had a double-double by scoring 10 points and getting the same number of rebounds. He also added 4 blocks in 23 minutes. Polski Cukier Torun (5-0) is placed first in the EBL. So far his team won all five games in the Regular Season. This year Mbodj's total stats are: 8.8ppg, 7.2rpg, 1.4apg and 3.0bpg in five games. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Senegalese National Team roster.

   #7. International point guard Clevin Hannah (179-87, agency: BeoBasket, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Spain) was not able to help Gran Canaria (3-2) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Hannah's very good performance Gran Canaria was defeated 86-79 in Manresa by the lower-ranked La ICL (#8). He was the top scorer with 19 points. Hannah also added 4 rebounds and 4 assists. This season Hannah has relatively solid stats: 13.5ppg, 2.5rpg and 4.3apg. He has both American and Senegalese nationalities. Hannah used to play for the Senegalese national team last year.

Babacar Toure

   #8. Power forward Babacar Toure (205-85, currently plays in Switzerland) was the main contributor in Fribourg's victory against the ninth-ranked Pully (1-4) crushing them 81-58 in the Swiss SBL in Saturday night's game. He was the best player in that game. Toure recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 12 rebounds. He also added 2 blocks. Fribourg Olympic (4-0) is placed first in the SBL. So far his team won all four games in the Regular Season. This season Toure has very high stats. He averages: 15.3ppg and 10.3rpg. Toure used to play for the Senegalese national team back in 2014.

   #9. International forward Maurice Ndour (206-92, college: Ohio, currently plays in EuroCup) contributed to an easy victory against the fifth-ranked Mornar Bar (1-5) 90-73 in the Eurocup in Wednesday night's game. Ndour scored 7 points in 15 minutes. Unics Kazan (5-1) is placed second in group D. There are only four games left until the end of the Eurocup Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Ndour has reliable stats this year: 13.7ppg and 5.0rpg in six games. He is also in the roster of the Senegalese national team.

   #10. Power forward Ibrahima Faye (207-97, currently plays in Belgium) contributed to a Leuven Bears' victory against the league outsider Liege Basket (2-5) 86-82 in the Belgian Euromillions League on Saturday night. Faye had a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added 3 blocks in 35 minutes. Stella Artois Leuven Bears (2-4) is placed seventh in the Euromillions League. It's Faye's first season with the team. Faye's stats this year are: 10.2ppg, 11.2rpg, 1.7apg, 1.5bpg and 1.2spg in six games. He is a former international player as two years ago he still played for the Senegalese senior national team.

   #11. International center Gorgui Dieng (211-90, college: Louisville, currently plays in NBA) was not able to secure a victory for the Minnesota Timberwolves in their game against the Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA. Dieng scored 8 points in only 12 minutes. His team lost 109-120 in the NBA. He has averaged so far 6.3ppg and 4.8rpg in 13 games. Dieng plays currently for the Senegalese national team.

   #12. International center Pape Faye (200-87, currently plays in Japan) helped Osaka Evessa win their game against the sixth-ranked Yokohama BC 86-81 in the Japanese B League in Saturday night's game. He scored 9 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Faye averaged so far 10.9ppg, 6.9rpg and 1.2apg. He used to play for the Senegalese national team last year.

   #13. Former international center Bamba Fall (217-86, college: SMU, currently plays in Latvia) couldn't help TLU/Kalev in their game against Tartu Ulikool in the Latvian LatEstBL. Fall scored 6 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and made 2 blocks. His team was defeated 75-66. He averaged so far 10.8ppg, 6.9rpg and 1.5bpg. Fall used to play for the Senegalese national team eleven years ago.

   #14. Former international power forward Jules Aw (202-86, currently plays in Switzerland) couldn't help Massagno (3-0) in their last game. Despite his good performance the league leader Massagno lost 80-87 at home to the leading Geneve Lions. Aw had a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 12 rebounds in 34 minutes. He has very impressive stats this year: 15.3ppg, 10.7rpg and 2.3spg in six games. Aw used to play for the Senegalese national team back in 2007.

   #15. International center Maodo Nguirane (210-93, currently plays in France) helped Saint Vallier win their game against the 11th-ranked Recy Saint-Martin crushing them 103-66 in the French NM1 (third division) last Saturday. He recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 16 rebounds. Nguirane has averaged so far 7.3ppg and 8.7rpg. He used to play for the Senegalese national team last year.


The list of other players, who all have Senegalese passport but never been selected to any of Senegalese national teams:

   #1. Ilimane Diop (210-C-95, currently plays in Euroleague) could not help Baskonia (2-4) in their last game on Friday. Despite his very good performance Baskonia was edged 74-72 at home by the much higher-ranked Fenerbahce (#3). Diop was the top scorer with 17 points. He also added 6 rebounds. It's Diop's sixth season with the team. Diop's overall stats this year are: 6.0ppg, 4.0rpg and 1.2apg. He has a dual citizenship: Senegalese and Spanish.

   #2. Michel Diouf (208-C-89, currently plays in Denmark) was the major contributor in Bakken's victory against the third-ranked Naestved (6-2) crushing them 109-89 in the Danish BasketLigaen on Sunday night. He scored 16 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in a mere 17 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group ProA. Bakken Bears (7-0) is placed first. So far his team won all seven games in the Regular Season. Diouf is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Bakken's roster. Diouf has averaged so far 7.5ppg and 5.7rpg in six games he played so far.

   #3. Amath M'Baye (206-F-89, college: Oklahoma, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) contributed to a Virtus Bologna's victory against the sixth-ranked Besiktas (1-4) 94-90 in the Basketball Champions League last Wednesday. He scored 7 points in 26 minutes. Virtus Segafredo Bologna (5-0) is placed first in group D. So far his team won all five games in the Regular Season. M'Baye has averaged so far 9.8ppg, 3.6rpg, 1.6apg, 1.2bpg and 1.2spg in five games. He is another player who holds two passports: Senegalese and French. Despite M'Baye's Senegalese nationality, he previously played for the French U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Senegalese team.

   #4. Malik Dime (206-F/C-92, college: Washington, currently plays in Finland) led Ura Basket to an easy victory against the closely-ranked UU-Korihait (3-6) 108-90 in the Finnish Korisliiga on Friday night. Dime recorded a double-double by scoring 28 points and getting 24 rebounds. He also added 3 assists and 3 blocks; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Dime's second season in pro basketball. Kaarinan Ura Basket (3-7) is placed second from the bottom (#10) in the Korisliiga. It's Dime's first year with the team. He has individually a very good season with high stats. Dime averages: 17.0ppg, 12.1rpg, 3.2bpg and 1.5spg. He has both American and Senegalese nationalities.

   #5. Lamine Diane (201-F-97, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA was not able to help the CS Northridge in their last game on Tuesday. Despite Diane's very good performance his team was edged 87-84 on the road by the University of New Mexico. He recorded 34 points (!!!) and grabbed 7 rebounds. It was his first game for CS Northridge this season.

   #6. Khadim Sow (210-C-99, currently plays in EuroCup) managed to help ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket to win against the closely-ranked Valencia Basket 73-69 in the Eurocup in Tuesday night's game. Sow scored only 2 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. He has averaged so far 1.2ppg and 1.8rpg.

   #7. Mamadou Niang (209-C-94, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) helped his Spanish team CB Canarias win their game against the third-ranked Hapoel Holon crushing them 84-52 in the Basketball Champions League last Tuesday. Niang scored only 2 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 5 minutes on the court. He has averaged so far 6.2ppg, 2.2rpg and 1.2bpg in five games.

   #8. Bira Seck (204-PF-90, agency: Interperformances, college: Idaho, currently plays in Japan) led Tokyo Cinq Reves to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Saitama Broncos crushing them 92-70 in the Japanese B League D3 on Saturday night. Seck recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 14 rebounds. He averaged so far 11.3ppg, 7.8rpg and 1.2apg.

   #9. Ibrahima Camara (206-C/F-94, college: New Hampshire, currently plays in Switzerland) led Swiss Central to a victory over the league outsider Starwings 70-65 in the Swiss SBL last Saturday. He was the top player that evening. Camara recorded a double-double by scoring 30 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added and 3 steals. This season Camara has very high stats. He averages: 15.2ppg, 8.3rpg and 1.2spg.

   #10. Mamadou Samb (210-C/F-89, currently plays in Spain) helped Real Betis edge one of league's weakest teams CB Prat 90-88 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) on Saturday night. Samb scored 9 points, had 4 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 16 minutes. He has averaged so far 3.4ppg and 2.6rpg in seven games. Samb also holds two passports: Senegalese and Spanish. Despite his Senegalese nationality, Samb previously played for the Spanish U20 national team and probably cannot be called to the Senegalese team.

Douanes, USO and DUC reached the 5th victories in the League. In the latest game Le Dakar Universite Club overcame Mermoz BC 73-51 at the Marius Ndiaye stadium. Douanes meanwhile handed in US Ouakam their first loss. They outscored the opponents 57-44 as both teams are with 5-1 records.   [read more]
