Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Senegalese players who are currently playing abroad.


Mouhammad Faye

   #1. This week's number one is an experienced international forward Mouhammad Faye (207-85, college: SMU, currently plays in ABA League). He led his Serbian team Crvena Zvezda to a victory over the closely-ranked FMP (3-3) 81-72 in a derby game in the ABA League in Saturday night's game. Faye was MVP of the game. He scored 18 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 25 minutes on the court. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Crvena Zvezda MTS Beograd (5-0) is placed first in the ABA League. So far his team won all five games in the Regular Season. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Faye has relatively good stats this year: 10.6ppg, 5.2rpg, 1.8bpg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 88.2%(15-17), 3FGP: 35.7% and FT: 72.7% in five games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Senegalese senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Cheikh Mbodj (208-87, agency: Octagon Europe, college: Cincinnati, currently plays in Poland). Mbodj contributed to a 3-point Twarde Pierniki's victory against the 11th-ranked Anwil (2-3) 79-76 in the Polish EBL last Saturday. He recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 13 rebounds. Mbodj also added 3 assists and 2 blocks. Polski Cukier Torun (4-0) is placed third in the EBL. So far his team won all four games in the Regular Season. But the season just started, so everything may happen. This year Mbodj averages: 8.5ppg, 6.5rpg, 1.8apg, 2.8bpg, 2FGP: 52.0% and FT: 42.1%. He is in the roster of the Senegalese senior national team.

Clevin Hannah

   #3. The Senegalese player who performed third best last week abroad was an international point guard Clevin Hannah (179-87, agency: BeoBasket, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Euroleague). He could not help Gran Canaria (1-4) in their last game on Friday. Despite Hannah's very good performance Gran Canaria was defeated 106-91 at home by the second-ranked CSKA. He was the top scorer with 17 points. Hannah also added 6 passes. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. It's Hannah's first season with the team. This year he has relatively solid stats: 11.2ppg, 1.8rpg, 5.0apg, 1.6spg, 2FGP: 39.1%, 3FGP: 35.3% and FT: 95.2%(20-21). Hannah has a dual citizenship: Senegalese and American. He played for the Senegalese national team one years ago.

   #4. Center Youssoupha Fall (221-95, currently plays in France) contributed to a SIG Strasbourg's victory against the closely-ranked Gravelines-Dunkerque (6-2) 90-84 in the French ProA last Saturday. Fall recorded 15 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in a mere 19 minutes. SIG Strasbourg (5-2) is placed sixth in the ProA. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Fall has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 17.0ppg, 9.0rpg, 1.7apg and 1.3bpg in three games. Fall used to play for the Senegalese U18 national team back in 2012.

Former international center Bamba Fall (217-86, college: SMU, currently plays in Latvia) helped TLU/Kalev win their game against the 11th-ranked ViA (2-4) 120-109 in the Latvian LatEstBL on Saturday night. He recorded 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks. Tallinna Ulikool/Kalev (5-2) is placed third in the LatEstBL. Fall has reliable stats this season: 11.4ppg, 7.0rpg and 1.4bpg. He used to play for the Senegalese national team eleven years ago.

   #6. Forward Maurice Ndour (206-92, college: Ohio, currently plays in EuroCup) was the major contributor in a 3-point Unics Kazan's victory against the closely-ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners (3-2) 83-80 in the Eurocup last Wednesday. Ndour scored 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Unics Kazan (4-1) is placed second in group D. Ndour's stats this season are: 15.0ppg and 5.4rpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Senegalese National Team roster.

   #7. International center Youssou Ndoye (213-91, college: St.Bonaventure, currently plays in France) was not able to help JL Bourg (5-2) in their last game. Despite Ndoye's good performance JL Bourg was edged 80-78 on the road by the one of league's weakest teams (#17) Levallois. He had a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 10 rebounds. Ndoye also added 2 blocks in 33 minutes. Ndoye's stats this year are: 12.9ppg, 8.0rpg and 1.6bpg in seven games. He is also Senegalese national team player.

   #8. Center Pape Faye (200-87, currently plays in Japan) was not able to secure a victory for Osaka Evessa (4-7) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Faye's very good performance the fourth-placed Osaka Evessa (4-7) was defeated 77-63 on their home court in Osaka by the leading Chiba Jets in the West group. He recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 11 rebounds. Faye averaged so far 12.0ppg, 7.2rpg and 1.2apg. He used to play for the Senegalese national team last year.

   #9. International center Hamady N'Diaye (213-87, college: Rutgers, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) couldn't help Sidigas AV (3-1) in their game against UCAM Murcia (4-0) in the Basketball Champions League. N'Diaye recorded 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 20 minutes. Sidigas AV (#3) was edged 72-69 in Murcia by the leading UCAM in the group A of Basketball Champions League. They ended the series of three consecutive victories. This year N'Diaye's overall stats are: 4.3ppg and 3.3rpg in three games. He is also in the roster of the Senegalese national team.

   #10. Center Moussa Diagne (211-94, currently plays in EuroCup) couldn't help Andorra (2-3) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite his good performance Andorra (#5) was defeated 81-73 on the opponent's court by the second-ranked Monaco in the group A of Eurocup. Diagne scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Diagne's total stats this season are: 7.2ppg and 4.6rpg. Worth to mention Diagne played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. He is a former international player as two years ago he still played for the Senegalese senior national team.

   #11. International center Gorgui Dieng (211-90, college: Louisville, currently plays in NBA) helped Minnesota Timberwolves win their game against the Los Angeles Lakers 124-120 in the NBA in Monday night's game. Dieng scored 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. He averaged so far 7.2ppg and 5.2rpg. Dieng plays currently for the Senegalese national team.

   #12. Former international power forward Jules Aw (202-86, currently plays in Switzerland) was the main contributor in Massagno's victory against the sixth-ranked Monthey 67-61 in the Swiss SBL last Saturday. He was the best player in that game. Aw scored 18 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 32 minutes. He has very impressive stats this year: 15.6ppg, 10.4rpg, 1.2apg and 2.4spg in five games. Aw used to play for the Senegalese national team back in 2007.

   #13. International forward Ibrahima Thomas (213-87, college: Cincinnati, currently plays in Lebanon) couldn't help Hoops Club in their game against Al Riyadi in the Lebanese LBL. Despite his very good performance last Sunday He recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 15 rebounds. Thomas also added 5 blocks and 3 steals. This season he has very high stats. Thomas averages: 19.0ppg, 13.5rpg, 3.0bpg and 1.5spg. He is also Senegalese national team player.

   #14. Former international power forward Babacar Toure (205-85, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) couldn't help Fribourg in their game against Telekom Baskets in the Basketball Champions League, despite his very good performance on Tuesday night. Toure was the top scorer with 16 points. He also added 7 rebounds and 4 assists in 34 minutes. But his team lost 79-83. Toure has very impressive stats this year: 16.1ppg, 10.9rpg and 3.7apg in nine games. He used to play for the Senegalese national team back in 2014.

   #15. International center Maodo Nguirane (210-93, currently plays in France) helped Saint Vallier win their game against the seventh-ranked ALS Basket 85-72 in the French NM1 (third division) in Saturday night's game. Nguirane recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 17 rebounds. His total stats this season are: 6.5ppg and 7.5rpg. Nguirane used to play for the Senegalese national team last year.


The list of other players, who all have Senegalese passport but never been selected to any of Senegalese national teams:

   #1. Ilimane Diop (210-C-95, currently plays in Spain) led Baskonia to an easy victory against the 12th-ranked Movil Estudiantes (2-3) crushing them 100-67 in the Spanish Liga Endesa on Sunday night. Diop scored 12 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 22 minutes. Kirolbet Baskonia Vitoria (5-1) is placed third in the Liga Endesa. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. It's Diop's sixth year with the team. This season his overall stats are: 9.7ppg and 4.8rpg in six games he played so far. Diop has a dual citizenship: Senegalese and Spanish.

   #2. Amath M'Baye (206-F-89, college: Oklahoma, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) contributed to a Virtus Bologna's victory against the eighth-ranked BBC Bayreuth (0-4) 74-67 in the Basketball Champions League in Tuesday night's game. M'Baye recorded 9 points and blocked 2 shots in 23 minutes. Virtus Segafredo Bologna (4-0) is placed second in group D. So far his team won all four games in the Regular Season. M'Baye's stats this year are: 10.5ppg, 3.8rpg, 1.8apg, 1.3bpg and 1.3spg in four games. He is another player who holds two passports: Senegalese and French. Despite M'Baye's Senegalese nationality, he previously played for the French U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Senegalese team.

   #3. Malik Dime (206-F/C-92, college: Washington, currently plays in Finland) was the major contributor in a Ura Basket's victory against the closely-ranked UU-Korihait (2-5) 108-90 in the Finnish Korisliiga last Friday. Dime had a double-double by scoring 28 points and getting 24 rebounds. He also added 3 assists and 3 blocks in 28 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Dime's second season in pro basketball. Kaarinan Ura Basket (2-5) is placed seventh in the Korisliiga. It was his team's first victory after three consecutive loses. Dime has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 17.3ppg, 11.6rpg, 2.9bpg and 1.9spg in seven games. Dime has both American and Senegalese nationalities.

   #4. Michel Diouf (208-C-89, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup) led his Danish team Bakken to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Prishtina (2-1) crushing them 108-84 in the FIBA Europe Cup on Tuesday night. He scored 18 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Bakken Bears (3-0) is placed first in the FIBA Europe Cup. So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season. There are only three games left until the end of the FIBA Europe Cup Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Diouf is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Bakken's roster. This season Diouf has very high stats. He averages: 15.3ppg, 5.7rpg and 1.3bpg.

   #5. Mamadou Niang (209-C-94, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) managed to help Iberostar Tenerife CB Canarias in a victory against the closely-ranked Umana Venezia (3-1) 72-65 in the Basketball Champions League on Wednesday night. Niang recorded only 2 points in 9 minutes on the court. It was the game of the round between two top 2 ranked teams in group B. Iberostar Tenerife CB Canarias (4-0) is placed first. So far his team won all four games in the Regular Season. Niang is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in CB Canarias' roster. This season his total stats are: 7.3ppg, 1.8rpg and 1.5bpg in four games.

   #6. Bira Seck (204-PF-90, agency: Interperformances, college: Idaho, currently plays in Japan) led Tokyo Cinq Reves to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Saitama Broncos crushing them 92-70 in the Japanese B League D3 on Saturday night. He recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 14 rebounds. Seck averaged so far 12.7ppg, 8.4rpg and 1.4apg.

   #7. Mouhamed Barro (205-F-95, currently plays in Spain) helped Gipuzkoa win their game against the fourth-ranked Gran Canaria 74-63 in the Spanish Liga Endesa in Sunday night's game. He scored 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 15 minutes. This year Barro's total stats are: 5.3ppg and 2.9rpg in seven games.

   #8. Atoumane Diagne (215-C-98, currently plays in Spain) led Barca II to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked CB Granada 78-60 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) last Saturday. He had a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 11 rebounds in 21 minutes. This year Diagne's total stats are: 9.3ppg, 6.3rpg and 2.0bpg in six games.

   #9. Abdou Thiam (204-F/C-98, currently plays in Spain) led Betanzos to a surprising victory over the third-ranked Gijon Basket 97-90 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) on Sunday night. He was the top player that evening. Thiam recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points and getting 16 rebounds. He also added 2 blocks. This season Thiam has very high stats. He averages: 19.7ppg, 13.0rpg and 1.7bpg.

   #10. Tanor Ngom (218-F, currently plays in Canada) led Ryerson College to an easy victory against the Gryphons crushing them 96-59 in the U Sports on Wednesday night. Ngom had a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 11 rebounds (went 5 for 5 at the free throw line) in 23 minutes. He averaged so far 13.5ppg, 8.0rpg and 2.5bpg in two games.
