We bring you last week's top performances from Senegalese players who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international center Cheikh Mbodj (208-87, agency: Octagon Europe, college: Cincinnati, currently plays in Poland). He could not help Twarde Pierniki (23-9) in their last game. Despite Mbodj's very good performance Twarde Pierniki lost 76-82 on the road to the lower-ranked (#3) BM Slam Stal. He was the top scorer with 27 points. Mbodj also added 6 rebounds and 2 blocks in 29 minutes on the court. Mbodj has relatively good stats this year: 11.0ppg, 5.1rpg, 1.1apg, 1.5bpg, 2FGP: 57.3%(130-227) and FT: 75.6% in 33 games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Senegalese senior national team.

Mouhammad Faye

   #2. Second place goes to an experienced international forward Mouhammad Faye (208-85, college: SMU, currently plays in Greece). Faye was the major contributor in Promitheas' victory against the seventh-ranked Lavrio (14-11) 98-87 in the Greek A1 last Wednesday. He recorded 19 points, 4 rebounds and 3 blocks. ASP Promitheas Patras (17-8) is placed third in the A1. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. This season Faye has relatively solid stats: 13.0ppg, 5.4rpg, 2FGP: 62.9%(44-70), 3FGP: 42.5% and FT: 79.4%. He is in the roster of the Senegalese senior national team.

   #3. The Senegalese player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center Youssou Ndoye (213-91, college: St.Bonaventure, currently plays in France). Ndoye was not able to help JL Bourg (17-16) in their last game. Despite his very good performance JL Bourg was edged 87-84 on the opponent's court by the lower-ranked (#14) Chalons-Reims. Ndoye had a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 10 rebounds in 24 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. Ndoye's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Ndoye has reliable stats this year: 11.7ppg, 6.4rpg, 2FGP: 60.9%(134-220) and FT: 73.4% in 32 games. He is also a member of the Senegalese senior national team.

Maurice Ndour

   #4. Forward Maurice Ndour (206-92, college: Ohio, currently plays in VTB United League) led his Russian team Unics Kazan to a victory against the tenth-ranked Parma (7-16) 88-81 in the VTB United League in Friday night's game. Ndour scored 13 points and grabbed 4 rebounds (went 5 for 5 at the free throw line). Unics Kazan (22-2) is placed first in the VTB United League. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the VTB United League Regular Season. So now every game will be important. Ndour's overall stats this season are: 10.0ppg and 4.3rpg. He is also Senegalese national team player.

   #5. Former U18 international center Youssoupha Fall (221-95, currently plays in France) was not able to secure a victory for Le Mans (21-12) in their last game. Despite Fall's good performance Le Mans lost 79-86 in Le Portel to the much lower-ranked (#14) Le Portel. He scored 13 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and made 3 blocks in 22 minutes. Fall's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is quite important. It's Fall's first season with the team. His stats this year are: 11.3ppg and 7.0rpg in 33 games. Fall used to play for the Senegalese U18 national team six years ago.

   #6. Point guard Clevin Hannah (179-87, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Spain) couldn't help UCAM Murcia (16-16) in their game against Real Madrid (30-3) in the Spanish Liga Endesa. He was the second best scorer with 9 points. But UCAM Murcia was edged 63-61 at home by the leading Real Madrid. It was UCAM Murcia's third consecutive loss in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. Hannah averaged so far 12.7ppg, 2.4rpg and 4.2apg. He has a dual citizenship: Senegalese and American. Hannah is an international player who is currently on the senior Senegalese National Team roster.

   #7. Former U18 international power forward Ousmane Barro (207-84, college: Marquette, currently plays in Romania) contributed to an UBT Cluj Napoca's victory against the second-ranked Phoenix Galati (18-13) 71-67 in the Romanian Liga Nationala in Tuesday night's game. Barro recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added 2 blocks. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group Places 1-6. U-Banca Transilvania Cluj Napoca (23-10) is placed second in Places 1-6 group. Barro's overall stats this season are: 9.6ppg and 5.6rpg. He used to play for the Senegalese U18 national team sixteen years ago.

Babacar Toure

   #8. Power forward Babacar Toure (205-85, currently plays in Switzerland) led Fribourg to a victory over the fifth-ranked Neuchatel (1-4) 83-69 in the Swiss SBL on Saturday night. Toure was MVP of the game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 10 rebounds. Toure also added 2 blocks and 4 steals (made all of his eight free throws). Fribourg Olympic (5-0) is placed first in Places 1-6 group. So far his team won all five games in the Semi-Finals. Toure has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 19.3ppg, 11.9rpg, 1.7apg, 1.5bpg and 1.5spg. Toure used to play for the Senegalese national team back in 2014.

   #9. International center Pape Faye (200-87, currently plays in Japan) couldn't help Fukuoka Rizing (47-13) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the first-placed Fukuoka Rizing (47-13) lost 74-80 in Ishikawa to the lower-ranked (#4) Kanazawa Samuraiz in the West group. Faye had a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added 3 assists in 30 minutes. It was Fukuoka Rizing's third consecutive loss in a row. Faye's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. This year Faye's overall stats are: 8.4ppg, 7.6rpg and 2.1apg in 61 games. He is also in the roster of the Senegalese national team.

   #10. Power forward Pape Badji (208-92, currently plays in Belgium) couldn't help Kangoeroes (4-2) in their last game on Friday. Despite Badji's very good performance Kangoeroes was crushed 91-66 on their home court in Willebroek by the second-ranked Antwerp Giants. He was the top scorer with 17 points. Badji also added 8 rebounds. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. Badji averaged so far 14.5ppg and 7.1rpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Senegalese National Team roster.

   #11. Former international center Moussa Diagne (211-94, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Andorra in their game against FC Barcelona in the Spanish Liga Endesa. He recorded only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 13 minutes. His team was crushed by 24 points 94-70. This year Diagne's total stats are: 5.5ppg and 4.8rpg in 28 games. Worth to mention Diagne played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. He used to play for the Senegalese national team two years ago.

   #12. Former international power forward Badou Diagne (205-93, college: Co.Carolina, currently plays in Australia) contributed to Tigers' victory against the seventh-ranked Flames 103-94 in the Australian State League (second division) on Saturday night. He scored 22 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Diagne averaged so far 13.6ppg and 9.1rpg. He used to play for the Senegalese national team back in 2016.

   #13. Former international power forward Jules Aw (202-86, currently plays in Switzerland) couldn't help Massagno (2-3) in their last game. Despite Aw's good performance Massagno (#4) was crushed 91-67 on the opponent's court by the lower-ranked (#5) Neuchatel in the Places 1-6 group. He scored 13 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 35 minutes. Aw has very impressive stats this year: 15.3ppg, 10.1rpg, 1.1apg and 1.6spg in 27 games. He used to play for the Senegalese national team eleven years ago.

   #14. Former U18 international power forward Cheikh Sane (207-92, college: Marshall, currently plays in Japan) contributed to a 2-point Saitama Broncos' victory against the closely-ranked Tokyo Excellence 82-80 in the Japanese B League D3 on Saturday night. Sane recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and getting 12 rebounds. Sane has averaged so far 6.7ppg and 8.5rpg. He used to play for the Senegalese U18 national team back in 2008.

   #15. International guard Lamine Sambe (188-89, currently plays in France) couldn't help Rueil (24-10) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Sambe's very good performance Rueil was defeated 82-70 on the opponent's court by the lower-ranked Lorient (#8). He was the top scorer with 15 points. Sambe also added 5 assists and 4 steals. Sambe averaged so far 10.7ppg, 1.8rpg and 2.4apg. He is also in the roster of the Senegalese national team.


The list of other players, who all have Senegalese passport but never been selected to any of Senegalese national teams:

   #1. Michel Diouf (208-C-89, currently plays in Denmark) led Bakken to a victory against the league leader Horsens IC (19-2) 83-76 in the Danish BasketLigaen on Monday night. He recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting the same number of rebounds. Diouf also added 3 blocks. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Bakken Bears (17-4) is placed second in the BasketLigaen. Diouf averaged so far 10.7ppg, 6.6rpg, 1.1apg and 1.9bpg.

   #2. Sidy Djitte (208-C-94, college: Clemson, currently plays in Montenegro) was the major contributor in Sutjeska's victory against the closely-ranked Lovcen (3-6) 86-72 in the Montenegrin Erste Liga in Wednesday night's game. He had a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 14 rebounds. Djitte also added 2 blocks and 3 steals (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) in 29 minutes; not bad, considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. KK Sutjeska Niksic (7-2) is placed second in the Erste Liga. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Second Stage. Djitte averaged so far 13.0ppg, 12.7rpg, 1.2apg, 1.8bpg and 1.1spg in nine games he played so far.

   #3. Ilimane Diop (210-C-95, currently plays in Spain) managed to help Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz in a victory against the league outsider Real Betis (7-26) crushing them 106-62 in the Spanish Liga Endesa on Sunday night. He recorded only 3 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 18 minutes. Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz (22-9) is placed second in the Liga Endesa. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. Diop has been at the team for five years. This season Diop's overall stats are: 5.0ppg and 3.4rpg in 25 games. He has a dual citizenship: Senegalese and Spanish.

   #4. Experienced Boris Diaw (203-PF-82, currently plays in France) could not help Levallois (16-17) in their last game. Despite Diaw's very good performance Levallois lost 79-85 on the road to the higher-ranked (#6) JSF Nanterre. He was the second best scorer with 17 points. Diaw also added 6 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 34 minutes. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. Diaw averaged so far 11.4ppg, 6.3rpg and 5.0apg in 30 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Senegalese and French.

   #5. Abdel Fall (202-F-91, currently plays in Italy) contributed to a 3-point Germani BR's victory against the 11th-ranked Fiat TO (13-17) 98-95 in the Italian Serie A in Sunday night's game. Fall scored only 4 points. Germani Basket Brescia (20-10) is placed third in the Serie A. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. Fall has averaged so far 2.4ppg and 1.6rpg. He has both Senegalese and Italian nationalities.

   #6. Bira Seck (204-PF-90, agency: Interperformances, college: Idaho, currently plays in Japan) was not able to help Tokyo Cinq Reves (1-16) in their last game. Despite Seck's very good performance the bottom-ranked Tokyo Cinq Reves lost 83-87 in Renova to the higher-ranked (#4) Kagoshima. He was the second best scorer with 22 points. Seck also added 7 rebounds in 20 minutes. Seck averaged so far 14.1ppg, 7.4rpg and 1.8apg in 38 games.

   #7. Yande Fall (203-C/F-90, agency: Octagon Europe, currently plays in Italy) was not able to secure a victory for Recanati (22-8) in their last game. Despite Fall's very good performance Recanati (#2) lost 88-92 at home to the lower-ranked (#7) Roma Luiss in the Group C. He had a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 10 rebounds in 31 minutes. Fall has averaged so far 9.4ppg, 7.4rpg and 1.1spg in 31 games. He also holds two passports: Senegalese and Italian.

   #8. Mamadou Niang (209-C-94, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help CB Canarias in their game against Movil Estudiantes in the Spanish Liga Endesa. Niang cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 2 points. His team was defeated 97-92. Niang has averaged so far 2.8ppg and 2.0rpg.

   #9. Papa Beye (202-F/C-89, currently plays in France) couldn't help Charleville-Mezieres (6-27) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the bottom-ranked Charleville-Mezieres lost 75-83 on the opponent's court to the higher-ranked (#13) Nantes. Beye was the top scorer with 24 points. He also added 8 rebounds in 28 minutes. Beye has averaged so far 7.3ppg and 3.6rpg in 18 games.

   #10. Mamadou Samb (210-C/F-89, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Melilla Baloncesto (21-13) in their last game on Friday. Despite his good performance Melilla Baloncesto was edged 71-69 in Castellon by the lower-ranked Castello (#6). Samb recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting 13 rebounds. Samb has averaged so far 8.8ppg, 5.2rpg and 1.1apg. He has dual citizenship: Senegalese and Spanish. Despite Samb's Senegalese passport, he previously played for the Spanish U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Senegalese team.

He played last season at Plano Mighty Kings (ABA) in the U.S. Part of previous (2016-17) season Thiam spent at Al Fateh (SBL) in Saudi Arabian league. YOUSSOUPHA FALL Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz (Liga Endesa) agreed terms with 23-year old Senegalese center Youssoupha Fall (221-95). He was about to sign at Le Mans Sarthe Basket in French ProA. The last season Fall played also at Le Mans (also in ProA) where in 47 games he had 10.2ppg and 6.5rpg. He helped them to win the league title and they also made it to the Cup final.
