Astou Traore
Spar Citylift Girona (LFB) agreed terms with experienced 36-year old Senegalese international power forward Astou Traore (182-81, agency: ProDep Management). It is actually her comeback to Argon Uni Girona as she has played here before. Traore played last season at Galatasaray in Turkish KBSL. She managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year. In 14 KBSL games she had 13.2ppg, 4.6rpg, 1.1apg and 1.3spg. Traore helped them to make it to the semifinals. She also played 10 games in Eurocup where she recorded 13.2ppg, 4.7rpg, 1.4apg and 2.0spg. The other team Traore played that season for was IDK Gipuzkoa Universidad del Pais Vasco. In 9 games she averaged impressive 18.1ppg, 5.3rpg, 2.8apg and 1.2spg. She was also voted Afrobasket.com All-African Championships 1st Team in 2013 and 2017.
Traore won Spain LF2 Group B championship title in 2009.
Traore represented Senegal at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro seventeen years ago. Her stats at that event were 5 games: 15.4ppg, 2.8rpg, 2.6apg, 2.2spg, FGP: 54.5%, 3PT: 36.4%, FT-1 (96.7%).
Traore is quite experienced player. Her career allowed her to visit three different continents, while she played in four different countries. Traore tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Latin America and of course North America. She has played previously professionally in Belgium (Belfius Namur), France (Hainaut, Flammes and Chateauroux), Spain (AE Sedis, Rivas Promete and Joventud Mariana) and Ecuador (Universidad Tecnologica Equinoc. Quito).
It's very possible she may end her playing career at Girona.
On Traore: An experienced inside player who executes well the pick-and-roll, shoots with great accuracy and dominates both ends of the court.
