The most shocking disappointment of round 7 in the RBL was a home defeat of 5th ranked Kepler (2-3) to sixth ranked Patriots (3-2) 65-61. It was a great evening for American guard Damaria Franklin (190-1999, college: Memphis) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Naturalized Nigerian forward Chingka Garba (201-2001) helped adding 8 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. Patriots' coach Sunny Munyandamutsa used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Canadian guard Chad Bowie (188-1996, college: SHSU) responded with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Patriots moved-up to fourth place. Kepler at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with EAU. Patriots' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kigali to the arena APR.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Kigali: UGB (#7) and Azomco (#8). Azomco was defeated at home 75-87 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It was an exceptional evening for Ghanian James Amotoe (-1998) who led the winners and scored 21 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. Nkosinathi Sibanyoni accounted for 9 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks.
