South Sudanese Swingman Ruai Luak (198-G/F-2004) had an amazing evening in the last round for top-ranked East Africa University, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 21-year old player had a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat UGB (#9, 0-1), the league's bottom-ranked team 78-63. It allowed EAU to take over top position in the Rwandan RBL. But it's just the very beginning of the season and EAU won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Luak had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at EAU and it was his first game, where he immediately became new team's leader. Ruai Luak has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (2nd best: 24.0ppg), rebounds (5th best: 10.0rpg), assists (5th best: 5.0apg) and averages impressive 3.0spg and 63.6% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young DR Congolese Frank Betoudji (201-F-1998) of league's second-best Rwanda Energy Group Kigali. Betoudji had a very good evening with a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds. Of course he led REG to another comfortable win outscoring Inspired Gen. (0-1) 116-70. His team has extremely good start of the season. They won their first game. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Betoudji is one of the most experienced players at REG and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 24.0ppg (#4). His other stats are also decent: 10.0rpg and 4.0apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was Samuel Asiribo of Inspired Generation (#8). Asiribo scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds (!!!). Despite Asiribo's great performance the Inspired Gen. lost 70-116 to REG (#2, 1-0). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The season just started for Asiribo as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Patrick Nshizirungu (194-SG-1999) of REG - 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Eric Kayondo (C) of UGB - 24 points and 10 rebounds
6. Yamin Niyubahwe (C) of EAU - 10 points and 16 rebounds
7. Prince Muhizi (200-SF-1996) of REG - 26 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Nkosinathi Sibanyoni (208-PF-1998) of UGB - 11 points, 17 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Jean Umuhoza (175-PG-2001) of REG - 12 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assists
10. Emile Kazeneza (203-F-2000) of REG - 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
