Tigers win Rwanda Cup tournament

Tigers basketball club won the Rwanda Cup 2025 after defeating Rwanda Energy Group (REG) 83–77 in the final on Friday night at Petit Stade. They become the second team to win the tournament since its inception in 2024. APR won the inaugural edition. Tigers started off brightly and took the first quarter 21-18 and second quarter 20-13 to go into halftime leading the game 41-36. The second half produced a thrilling battle between the two teams. REG, down five points at the break, made a huge turnaround to take the third quarter 32-24 and took a three-point lead but Tigers avoided claimed the decisive quarter 18-14 to avoid the upset. Herves Ikishatse (SG-1992) was the hero for Tigers, scoring a game high 21 points in the final. His teammates Fiston Irutingabo (SF-1996) and Picthou Manga also contributed 18 and 17 points respectively to the victory.
Meanwhile, Kepler basketball club finished in the third place of the tournament after defeating APR 74–62. Established this year, the Rwanda Cup aims to increase the number of competitions and teams in the country, fostering player development and raising overall performance standards.
