Senegalese point guard Jean-Jacques Boissy (183-2000) scored 29 points and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international center Olivier Shyaka (197-1995) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Burundian center Mohamed Doumbya (-1997) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 15 rebounds and 8 assists and French-Central African power forward Steven-Emile Perriere (203-1995, college: LMU) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Five REG and four UGB players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Even 23 points and 8 rebounds by American power forward Raphiael Putney (207-1990, college: UMass) did not help to save the game for Patriots. Center Betoudji Kamndoh added 13 points and 12 rebounds for the hosts.
