RBL Round 12 (Regular Season): Patriots hand first loss to APR

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of APR (15-1) in Kigali on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Patriots (9-5) 71-62. It ended at the same time the 15-game winning streak of APR. Patriots made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American point guard Elliott Cole (180-1994, college: Charleston) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 6 assists. International forward Furaha Cadeaux de Dieu (203-1998, college: UAFS, agency: Remy Munyaneza) contributed with 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Mali forward Aliou Diarra (200-2001) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks for APR. APR's coach James Maye rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Patriots maintains third position with 9-5 record having eight points less than leader APR. Defending champion APR still keeps top place with one game lost.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Kigali: UGB (#5) and Tigers (#3). Tigers were defeated at home 94-100 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Tigers. Worth to mention a great performance of Amatoe Kofi who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and Mark Burton who added 27 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was DR Congolese center Pitchou Kambuyi (208-1988) with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 25 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 blocks. UGB maintains fifth position with 6-6 record. Tigers at the other side dropped to the fourth place with six games lost.




Tigers - UGB 94-100

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Kigali: UGB (#5) and Tigers (#3). Tigers were defeated at home 94-100 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Tigers. UGB forced 20 Tigers turnovers. Tigers were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Amatoe Kofi who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and American point guard Mark Burton (183-1998, college: Fayetteville St., agency: Diamond Sports) who added 27 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was DR Congolese center Pitchou Kambuyi (208-1988) with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 25 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 blocks and American swingman David Nickelberry (201-1998, college: Buffalo) produced a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. UGB maintains fifth position with 6-6 record. Tigers at the other side dropped to the fourth place with six games lost.
