Rwanda earned the first win at the 2025 AfroBasket Qualifiers. They knocked down Gabon at the Dakar Arena. Osborn Shema (213-F-1998, college: Iona) scored 20 points to lead the charge.
Rwanda unloaded 28 points in the first period to gain a 7-point lead. They maintained the lead throughout the second period. Rwanda established a 50-34 halftime advantage. Rwanda sank 25 points in the fourth term and rallied to the victory. Furaha Cadeaux de Dieu (203-F-1998, college: UAFS) and Dieudonne Ndayisaba (201-SG-1996) posted 14 points each for the winners. Rachez Missouma (203-C-2000) answered with 10 points for Gabon as they stayed winless.
