RBL Round 22 (Regular Season): APR keep a leadership position

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked APR as it allowed them to take a leadership position. APR smashed 6th ranked Tigers in Kigali 104-62. APR forced 30 Tigers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Tigers' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when APR made 7 blocks. American point guard Isaiah Miller (183-1998, college: UNCG) scored 30 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Mali forward Aliou Diarra (200-2001) chipped in 15 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side international power forward Patrick Ngabonziza (201-1999) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 18 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Tigers' coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. APR (16-1) have an impressive ten-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Tigers lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with ten games lost.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Kigali: Kepler (#5) and UGB (#7). Kepler (10-7) won against visiting UGB (7-9) 90-85. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of UGB. Canadian guard Chad Bowie (188-1996, college: SHSU) notched 30 points and 4 steals to lead the effort and Guibert Nijimbere supported him with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 13 assists and 4 steals. Kepler's coach Juruni Lutwama allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 32 points and 7 assists by American point guard Patrick Rembert (185-1990, college: UC Irvine) did not help to save the game for UGB. Kepler have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. UGB at the other side keeps the seventh position with nine games lost.

Orion was defeated at home 68-76 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Niyizibyose Janvier fired a double-double by scoring 17 points, 25 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Remy Ndahayo produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds for lost side. K-Titans maintains ninth position with 2-15 record. Loser Orion keeps the eighth place with 14 games lost.

Niyizibyose Janvier fired a double-double by scoring 17 points, 25 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Point guard Philippe Kubanatubane (-1993) chipped in 23 points and 6 rebounds. Remy Ndahayo produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds and Gedeon Niyigena added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for lost side. Four Orion players scored in double figures. K-Titans maintains ninth position with 2-15 record. Loser Orion keeps the eighth place with 14 games lost.
