REG BBC lands Betty Kalanga for the 2023 FIBA Africa Women's Basketball League

The BBC has signed Betty Kalanga, a 36-year-old power forward from the Democratic Republic of Congo for the 2023 FIBA Africa Women's Basketball League

She is an experienced ex-international player, standing at 188cm tall. Kalanga last played for Kenya Ports Authority in the Kenyan Premier League in 2019. She has been on a break from professional basketball for the past four seasons.
She also represented the Democratic Republic of Congo at the U19 World Championships 18 years ago.
She is a highly experienced player, having played professionally in Romania (Targoviste), Tunisia (CSP Circulacion and CSF Biserte), DR Congo (Lupopo), and Ivory Coast (Abidijan Basketball Club).

She played in the final of the Kenyan Premier League in 2019. She is close to retirement age as a player. This may be one of the last seasons in her extensive career, which she may end at REG BBC.

Betty is a versatile player who can play both the power forward (4) and center (5) positions. She excels at both facing the basket and playing with her back to the basket. Her mid-range shooting is highly accurate and she is also capable of shooting from beyond the three-point line. Betty's quickness and explosive first step make it nearly impossible to stop her when she drives to the basket. She is also a strong rebounder and a hard worker on the court. As a team player, Betty is always aware of her surroundings and ready to deliver an assist. Like her fellow countrywoman Pauline AKONGA, Betty is a talented player.
