Al Ahly claimed the BAL semifinal appearance. They rallied past REG in the second quarterfinal clash of the day in Kigali. Ehab Amin (193-G-1995, college: Oregon) scored 22 points to pace the Egyptian team.
Al Ahly sank 23 points in the first period to gain a 5-point lead. They extended the margin in the second period as the gap ballooned to 14 points 46-32. The teams traded baskets throughout the third term as Al Ahly managed to secure a double-digit lead before the fourth frame. They sank 27 points in the final stanza and raced to a comfortable win at the end. Amunwa Omot produced 16 points for the winners. Adonis Filer (195-G-1993, college: FAU) answered with 26 points for REG.
