Experienced Rwandan-DR Congolese Center Kami Kabangu (203-C-84) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's second-best REG and that's him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 13.
The 34-year old center had the game-high 39 points adding eight rebounds and two assists for REG in his team's victory, helping them to outclass Rusizi (#8, 2-10) with 108-point margin 157-49. REG maintains the 2nd position in Rwandan D1. REG has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 11-1. In the team's last game Kabangu had a remarkable 82.4% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at REG, through which he has constantly improved. Kami Kabangu averages this season 16.7ppg and 5.3rpg.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young shooting guard Armel Sangwe (SG-98) of Espoir. Sangwe impressed basketball fans with 48 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course he led Espoir to another comfortable win outscoring UR (#9, 0-12) 121-42. Espoir's 3rd position in the standings has not changed. His team's 8-4 record is not bad at all. Sangwe is a newcomer at Espoir and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.
The third best performed player last round was another REG's star - Beleck Bell (F-90). Bell got into 30-points club by scoring 34 points in the last round. He went also for nineteen rebounds and five assists. He was another key player of REG, helping his team with a 157-49 easy win against the lower-ranked Rusizi (#8, 2-10). Many experts and fans count REG as a contender for championship title. Another victory and another confirmation that they may be right. Just look at their record: 11 victories and only one lost game. Bell has a very solid season. In 11 games in Rwanda he scored 21.3ppg. He also has 6.9rpg and FGP: 61.7%.

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
