There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most interesting game of round 13 was a home defeat of 5th ranked APR (6-7) to fourth ranked IPRC-Kigali (7-6) 81-73. Burundian Guibert Nijimbere (-95) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals for the winners and Fiston Irutingabo (-96) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. IPRC-Kigali's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side international Pascal Niyonkuru (193-95) responded with 34 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. IPRC-Kigali have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 7-6 record. APR at the other side dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. IPRC-Kigali will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. APR will play against IPRC-South (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in . Sixth ranked IPRC-South (6-6) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 3rd placed Espoir (10-4) 55-52 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Espoir. Hubert Bugingo (-96) nailed a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and Medard Muberwa accounted for 2 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Armel Sangwe (-98) came up with 16 points and 4 assists for Espoir in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. IPRC-South moved-up to fifth place. Espoir at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. IPRC-South will play against APR (#6) in the next round. Espoir will play against Rusizi and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game between Top Four teams took place in . First ranked host REG (13-1) smashed 4th placed IPRC-Kigali (7-6) 91-57. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of IPRC-Kigali. Olivier Shyaka fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Bruno Nyamwasa produced 19 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. REG have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 13-1 record. Loser IPRC-Kigali keeps the fourth position with six games lost. REG will meet bottom-ranked UR (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. IPRC-Kigali will have a break next round.
D1 top team - Patriots (12-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked UGB (5-9) 74-53. Worth to mention a great performance of Micheal Makiadi who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 6 blocks. UGB's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Patriots. Despite that victory Patriots went down to second position due to points difference. UGB lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the seventh place with nine games lost. Patriots will have a break next round. UGB will play against Rusizi (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 13: Espoir destroyed UR on the opponent's court 121-42. APR outscored Rusizi in a home game 139-58. Espoir managed to beat APR on the road 69-64.



UGB - Patriots 53-74

D1 top team - Patriots (12-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked UGB (5-9) 74-53. Patriots forced 27 UGB turnovers. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of center Micheal Makiadi (-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 6 blocks. International point guard Sedard Sagamba (188-90) contributed with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four Patriots players scored in double figures. Espoir Aganze (-94) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and Prince Muhizi (-96) added 4 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for UGB. UGB's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Patriots. Despite that victory Patriots went down to second position due to points difference. UGB lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the seventh place with nine games lost. Patriots will have a break next round. UGB will play against Rusizi (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

D1 top team - REG (13-1) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed eighth ranked Rusizi (2-12) 157-49. REG dominated down low during the game scoring 96 of its points in the paint compared to Rusizi's 22 and had 22 for 33 from the free-throw line, while Rusizi only scored six points from the stripe. REG forced 36 Rusizi turnovers and outrebounded them 59-21 including a 29-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Rusizi's players. Forward Beleck Bell (-90) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 19 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and the former international center Kami Kabangu (203-84) chipped in 39 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds (on 15-of-18 shooting from the field). Five REG players scored in double figures. At the losing side Daniel Nsabimana (-90) responded with 6 points and 7 rebounds and Freddy Kwizera (-96) scored 5 points and 6 rebounds. UR - Espoir 42-121

Very expected game when bottom-ranked UR (0-14) was crushed at home by third ranked Espoir (10-4) 121-42 on Saturday. Espoir dominated down low during the game scoring 82 of its points in the paint compared to UR's 38. Espoir forced 24 UR turnovers and outrebounded them 53-23 including a 33-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. UR was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Armel Sangwe (-98) stepped up and scored 48 points (!!!) for the winners and Olivier Kamilindi (-92) chipped in 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). At the losing side Heritier Irumva (-94) responded with 11 points and Ildephonse Muneza scored 8 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Espoir maintains third place with 10-4 record having just three points less than leader REG. UR lost their fourteenth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Espoir will face Rusizi (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. UR will play against the league's leader REG and hopes to get finally their first victory.

They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Rusizi's players. International Pascal Niyonkuru (193-95) stepped up and scored 60 points (!!!) for the winners and international Bienvenue Niyonsaba (201-96) chipped in 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Five APR players scored in double figures. APR's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Daniel Nsabimana (-90) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and Joseph Bahati (-99) scored 10 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Despite that victory APR went down to sixth position due to points difference. Rusizi lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the eighth place with 12 games lost. APR will face higher ranked IPRC-South (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rusizi will play against UGB and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

At the losing side international Pascal Niyonkuru (193-95) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and international Bienvenue Niyonsaba (201-96) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. APR's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Espoir maintains third place with 10-4 record having just three points less than leader REG. Loser APR dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. KAMI KABANGU Experienced Rwandan-DR Congolese Center Kami Kabangu (203-C-84) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's second-best REG and that's him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 13.
