Espoir pitted against Patriots in preseason tournament - Nov 7, 2018

ESPOIR Basketball Club have been placed in Group A along with league champions Patriots and IPRC-South in the upcoming preseason tournament - slated for November 9-18. The Nyamirambo-based side and Henry Mwinuke's Patriots will be meeting for a second time in two weeks after the latter overcame Espoir 86-84 to lift the inaugural Legacy Basketball Tournament's title at Amahoro Indoor Stadium on October 28.
In the meantime, holders Rwanda Energy Group (REG) have been drawn in Group B against former champions APR, United Generation Basketball (UGB) and IPRC- Kigali. While seven teams have registered for the season's curtain-raiser, only four have confirmed their participation in women's fray and will all face each other in a round-robin format. The four female teams include; holders IPRC- South, APR, The Hoops Rwanda, and Ubumwe. REG won the men's title last year after beating IPRC- Kigali 76-71 in the final.

RWANDA Energy Group (REG) have been drawn in Group C at the upcoming inaugural edition of the FIBA Africa Basketball League. Draws were held Saturday night at Hotel Pullman in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Patriots beat Espoir to go top - 9 days ago
Steven Havugintwari scored a game-high 16 points on Friday as Patriots beat Espoir 70-54 at Amahoro Stadium to go top in the Bank of Kigali National Basketball League. After six match rounds, Henry Mwinuke's side lead the table standings with 12 points, one ahead of second-placed Rwanda Energy Group, whom they beat 82-78 a fortnight ago. Former champions, Espoir Basketball Club, will be seeking to bounce back when they face reigning champions Patriots on January 4 following the 70-69 defeat at the hands of APR last Friday.
