The Nigerian national men's basketball team, the D'Tigers yesterday defeated their opponent from Rwanda 108-53 in the second game of the African qualifiers for the 2019 FIBA World Cup holding in Bamako, Mali. The scores at first half was 56-28, before the D'Tigers led by Ikechukwu Diogu (204-F/C-83, college: Arizona St.) outsmarted the Rwandese with a multiple score line. After yesterday's game against Nigeria, Rwanda will be back in action today, Sunday February 25, to play against neighbours Uganda, while Nigeria will be up against Mali. The top three teams will advance to the second round of qualifiers where participating countries would have been narrowed from 16 to 12. The 12 teams will be drawn into two groups, Group E and Group F, each with six countries. Before yesterday's game, Rwanda players admitted that that their toughest test would be against Nigeria. The 2019 World Cup is scheduled for August 31 to September 15 in China.
