RWANDA men's senior national basketball team will not play any international friendly matches ahead of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifiers first round due February 23-25 in Bamako, Mali. However, the national team takes on a selection of local players in warm-up matches on Saturday and Sunday at Amahoro Indoor Stadium in Remera. Head coach Moise Mutokambali said that the warm-up matches against local players were planned because the team have no international friendly matches ahead of their trip to Mali. The team train twice a day at Amahoro Indoor Stadium. Star Hamza Ruhezamihigo (193-F/G-85) joined the team on Monday, while Kenneth Gasana (195-G-84, college: Boise St.) is expected on February 17. The team is supposed to travel to Mali for World Cup qualifiers on February 20. In Mali, the top three teams from each group will advance to the second round, where the 12 qualified teams will be divided in two groups (E and F) of six sides each. The first legs of the second-round tournament take place during the fourth window (September 10-18) with the return legs to follow during the fifth window (November 26-Dec. 4) and then the sixth window (February 20-28, 2019).

RWANDA men's senior national basketball team will face Senegal in the opening match on Friday at the second round of FIBA World Cup qualifiers, slated for February 22-24 in Cote d'Ivoire.
