We bring you last week's top performances from Nigerians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international center Tonye Jekiri (213-94, college: Miami, FL, currently plays in Turkey). He could not help one of league's weakest teams Gaziantep (17-11) in their last game. Despite Jekiri's very good performance Gaziantep lost 66-70 on the road to the higher-ranked (#4) Galatasaray. He was the top scorer with 27 points. Jekiri also added 9 rebounds in 32 minutes on the court; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. It was Gaziantep's first loss after three consecutive victories. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Jekiri's first year with the team. Jekiri has relatively good stats this season: 12.7ppg, 10.3rpg, 2.4apg, 2FGP: 61.7%(153-248) and FT: 57.5% in 28 games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Nigerian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international swingman Stan Okoye (198-91, college: VMI, currently plays in Spain). He led Zaragoza to a victory over the 11th-ranked Burgos (13-19) 89-81 in the Spanish Liga Endesa in Thursday night's game. Okoye was MVP of the game. He recorded 23 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Tecnyconta Zaragoza (16-15) is placed seventh in the Liga Endesa. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Okoye has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 15.2ppg, 5.1rpg, 1.3apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 46.2%, 3FGP: 44.0% and FT: 77.1%. Okoye has a dual citizenship: Nigerian and American. He is in the roster of the Nigerian senior national team.

Ike Iroegbu

   #3. The Nigerian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Ike Iroegbu (188-95, college: WSU, currently plays in Lithuania). Iroegbu was the major contributor in Lietkabelis' victory against the closely-ranked P.Zvaigzdes (16-20) 95-87 in the Lithuanian LKL on Tuesday night. He recorded 17 points and added 5 assists (made all of his eight free throws). Panevezys Lietkabelis (23-13) is placed fourth in the LKL. This season Iroegbu has relatively solid stats: 14.1ppg, 3.4rpg, 3.3apg, 2FGP: 51.6%, 3FGP: 39.1% and FT: 76.7%. He is also a member of the Nigerian senior national team.

   #4. Power forward Suleiman Braimoh (203-89, college: Rice, currently plays in Israel) was not able to help Hapoel Eilat (22-10) in their last game. Despite Braimoh's very good performance Hapoel Eilat lost 82-91 in Rosh Pina to the lower-ranked (#10) Galil Gilboa. He recorded 16 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks in 32 minutes. Braimoh's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. Braimoh has very impressive stats this year: 15.6ppg, 5.7rpg, 1.5apg and 1.5spg in 28 games. He used to play for the Nigerian national team back in 2016.

   #5. International guard Obi Emegano (190-93, college: ORU, currently plays in France) contributed to a JDA Dijon's victory against the eighth-ranked Le Mans (18-15) 78-70 in the French Jeep ELITE ProA last Tuesday. Emegano scored 14 points and added 3 assists. JDA Dijon Bourgogne (27-6) is placed third in the Jeep ELITE ProA. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. Emegano's overall stats this season are: 7.5ppg, 2.2rpg and 1.1spg. He is another player who holds two passports: Nigerian and British. Emegano plays currently for the Nigerian national team.

   #6. Power forward Talib Zanna (206-90, college: Pittsburgh, currently plays in Israel) was not able to secure a victory for Ironi Nes-Ziona (14-18) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Ironi Nes-Ziona was edged 77-75 in Nahariya by the one of league's weakest teams (#11) Ironi. Zanna had a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 13 rebounds in 27 minutes. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. Zanna has reliable stats this year: 13.2ppg, 7.2rpg and 1.3spg in 19 games. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Nigerian National Team roster.

   #7. An experienced international center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, agency: BeoBasket, college: Chicago St., currently plays in Puerto Rico) helped Capitanes edge the league leader Santeros (17-11) 78-77 in the Puerto Rican BSN last Thursday. He had a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting the same number of rebounds in 28 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Capitanes de Arecibo (16-14) is placed third in the BSN. This year Akindele's overall stats are: 10.0ppg, 10.3rpg and 2.8apg in nine games. He is also Nigerian national team player.

Forward Al-Farouq Aminu (206-90, college: Wake Forest, currently plays in NBA) couldn't help the Portland Trail Blazers (53-29) in their game against the Golden State Warriors (57-25) in the NBA. Aminu scored 9 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. But the Portland Trail Blazers (53-29) were edged 114-111 in Oakland by the Golden State Warriors. Aminu is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Trail Blazers' roster. He averaged so far 9.2ppg, 7.4rpg and 1.3apg. Aminu has both American and Nigerian nationalities. Despite he played previously for the USA U19 national team, Aminu is currently in the Nigerian national team roster.

International guard Caleb Agada (193-94, agency: Blacktop Management, college: Ottawa, currently plays in Spain) was the main contributor in a Melilla Baloncesto's victory against the closely-ranked Carramimbre (20-14) 76-70 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) on Saturday night. Agada was the best player in that game. He scored 21 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 30 minutes. Melilla Baloncesto (21-13) is placed fifth in the LEB Gold. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Agada's first season with the team. Agada's stats this year are: 12.4ppg, 6.2rpg, 2.4apg and 2.3spg in 34 games. Despite he played previously for the Canadian university national team, Agada is currently in the Nigerian national team roster.

   #10. Center Ekenechukwu Ibekwe (207-85, college: Maryland, currently plays in France) couldn't help Levallois (14-19) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his good performance Levallois was defeated 92-86 at home by the lower-ranked Olympique Antibes (#14). Ibekwe scored 12 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. Ibekwe's total stats this season are: 7.1ppg and 4.7rpg. He also holds two passports: Nigerian and American. Ibekwe is an international player who is currently on the senior Nigerian National Team roster.

   #11. International power forward Lotanna Nwogbo (203-93, college: Longwood, currently plays in Argentina) helped Atenas win their game against the 12th-ranked Racing Chivilcoy 84-65 in the Argentinian La Liga Argentina (second division) on Friday night. He recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 10 rebounds. Nwogbo also added 4 blocks. This season Nwogbo has very high stats. He averages: 15.9ppg, 8.1rpg and 1.4bpg. Nwogbo holds both American and Nigerian passports. He plays currently for the Nigerian national team.

   #12. Former international guard Anthony Odunsi (193-92, agency: Haylett Sports, college: Houston Baptist, currently plays in Australia) couldn't help Diamond Valley Eagles in their game against Bandits in the Australian State League (second division), despite his very good performance in Sunday night's game. Odunsi was the top scorer with 22 points. He also added 4 assists in 30 minutes. But his team lost 89-95. Odunsi has very impressive stats this year: 16.5ppg, 4.0rpg and 3.0apg in two games. He holds both American and Nigerian passports. Odunsi used to play for the Nigerian national team back in 2017.

   #13. Former international forward Daniel Ochefu (211-93, college: Villanova, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Leche Rio Breogan in their game against CB Canarias in the Spanish Liga Endesa. He cannot count Thursday's game as one of the best ones. Ochefu recorded only 3 points. His team was edged 85-84. Ochefu's total stats this season are: 3.7ppg and 3.3rpg. He used to play for the Nigerian national team two years ago.

   #14. Former U22 international power forward Dinma Odiakosa (203-85, college: Illinois St., currently plays in France) couldn't help Sluc Nancy in their game against Gries/Oberhoffen in the French ProB (second division). Odiakosa cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points in 12 minutes. His team lost 84-88. This year Odiakosa's total stats are: 6.8ppg and 5.9rpg in 31 games. He used to play for the Nigerian U22 national team back in 2004.


The list of other players, who all have Nigerian passport but never been selected to any of Nigerian national teams:

   #1. Michael Ojo (216-C-93, college: FSU, currently plays in Serbia) was the major contributor in a Crvena Zvezda's victory against the sixth-ranked Dunav SB (0-6) crushing them 91-65 in the Serbian KLS last Wednesday. He recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 10 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line); not bad, considering it's only Ojo's second season in pro basketball. Crvena Zvezda MTS Beograd (6-0) is placed first in Group A. So far his team won all six games in the Second Stage. There are only four games left until the end of the Second Stage. So now every game will be critical. It's Ojo's first year with the team. This season he averages: 9.2ppg and 6.8rpg. Worth to mention Ojo played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

   #2. Giannis Antetokounmpo (211-G/F-94, agency: Octagon Europe, currently plays in NBA) led Milwaukee Bucks to a victory against the Toronto Raptors (58-24) 108-100 in the NBA on Wednesday night. Antetokounmpo had a double-double by scoring 24 points and getting 14 rebounds. He also added 6 assists and 3 blocks in 37 minutes. The Milwaukee Bucks have a solid 60-22 record this season. Antetokounmpo is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his sixth year in Bucks' roster. Antetokounmpo has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 27.6ppg, 12.4rpg, 5.7apg, 1.5bpg and 1.3spg in 82 games he played so far. Antetokounmpo has a dual citizenship: Greek and Nigerian.

   #3. Ike Joseph Udanoh (203-PF-89, college: Wayne St., MI, currently plays in Italy) contributed to a Sidigas AV's victory against the league outsider Pistoia Basket (6-24) 88-75 in the Italian Serie A last Sunday. Udanoh had a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added and 3 steals (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) in a mere 19 minutes. Sidigas Avellino (16-14) is placed ninth in the Serie A. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This year Udanoh has relatively solid stats: 12.0ppg, 8.2rpg, 2.7apg and 1.3spg in 11 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Nigerian and American.

   #4. Moses Kingsley (208-F-94, college: Arkansas, currently plays in Belgium) helped Antwerp Giants win their game against the sixth-ranked Limburg United (14-20) crushing them 85-65 in the Belgian Euromillions League in Sunday night's game. Kingsley recorded 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Telenet Giants Antwerp (27-6) is placed first in the Euromillions League. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. It's Kingsley's first season with the team. His overall stats this year are: 7.2ppg and 4.3rpg. Kingsley has both American and Nigerian nationalities.

   #5. Obinna Rafael Nwokoye (198-F-95, agency: Players Group, currently plays in Italy). He could not help Edilnol Bl (16-12) to beat Benfapp CdO (20-8). Nwokoye recorded 6 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 24 minutes. The sixth-placed Edilnol Bl (16-12) was badly defeated 90-72 on the road by the second-ranked Benfapp CdO in the West group. This year Nwokoye averages only 0.8ppg in 21 games. He also holds two passports: Nigerian and Italian.

   #6. Christian Nwogbo (201-F-91, also represented by Octagon Europe, college: Cedarville, currently plays in France) helped SPO Rouen win their game against one of league's weakest teams Caen 89-78 in the French ProB (second division) last Sunday. Nwogbo scored 15 points and added 4 passes. Nwogbo averaged so far 12.6ppg, 5.5rpg, 1.2apg and 1.3spg. He holds both American and Nigerian passports.

   #7. Etinosa Erevbenagie (186-G-95, currently plays in Greece) was not able to help Kavala (10-20) in their last game. Despite his good performance Kavala lost 75-81 on the opponent's court to the much higher-ranked (#4) Karditsas. Erevbenagie scored 14 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 33 minutes. This year Erevbenagie's total stats are: 9.1ppg, 3.0rpg and 2.6apg in 28 games. He holds both Nigerian and Greek passports.

   #8. Micheal Eric (210-C-88, college: Temple, currently plays in Turkey) managed to help Darussafaka Istanbul to win against the 12th-ranked Buyukcekmece crushing them 100-51 in the Turkish BSL on Saturday night. Eric scored only 4 points. Eric averaged so far 12.7ppg, 6.0rpg and 1.1apg.

   #9. Cory Remekun (206-F/C-91, agency: Inception Sports, college: St.Louis, currently plays in France) was not able to secure a victory for Lille Metropole in their game against Quimper UJAP in the French ProB (second division), despite his good performance in Sunday night's game. He scored 12 points, grabbed 8 boards, handed out 4 passes and blocked 2 shots in 31 minutes. But his team lost 78-82. Remekun averaged so far 10.3ppg, 4.4rpg, 1.2apg and 1.3bpg in 32 games. He holds both American and Nigerian passports.

   #10. Chima Moneke (198-F-95, college: UC Davis, currently plays in France) couldn't help Denain Voltaire in their game against JA Vichy in the French ProB (second division). Moneke scored only 4 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished 4 assists. His team was edged 102-100. Moneke averaged so far 14.4ppg, 6.8rpg, 1.8apg and 1.3spg.

Gunma Crane Thunders (B2 League) re-signed experienced 35-year old Nigerian ex-international forward Abdullahi Kuso (206-111kg-84, college: Tallahassee CC). He was a team leader there last season. In 64 B2 League games he averaged impressive 15.4ppg, 10.7rpg, 3.2apg, 1.3spg and 1.7bpg. Kuso helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final.
