   #1. This week's number one is former international small forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo (199-92, currently plays in Greece). He contributed to an easy victory against the 11th-ranked Lavrio (1-2) crushing them 108-63 in the Greek A1 on Sunday night. Antetokounmpo scored 9 points in 16 minutes on the court. Panathinaikos Superfoods Athens (3-0) is placed second in the A1. So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. This year Antetokounmpo averages: 3.7ppg, 1.3rpg, 3FGP: 33.3% in three games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Nigerian and Greek. Antetokounmpo played for the Nigerian senior national team two years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an experienced international center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, agency: BeoBasket, college: Chicago St., currently plays in Mexico). He was the major contributor in a 3-point Fuerza Regia's victory against the leader Mineros (4-1) 87-84 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) in Saturday night's game. Akindele recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 5 assists. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group North. Fuerza Regia Monterrey (2-2) is placed third. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. Akindele has relatively good stats this season: 13.5ppg, 9.5rpg, 2.5apg, 2FGP: 75.0% and FT: 81.8%. He is in the roster of the Nigerian senior national team.

   #3. The Nigerian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international forward Al-Farouq Aminu (206-90, college: Wake Forest, currently plays in NBA). Aminu could not help the Portland Trail Blazers (3-1) in their last game on Monday. Despite his very good performance the Portland Trail Blazers (3-1) were edged 125-124 on the road by the Washington Wizards. Aminu recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 15 rebounds. It's Aminu's fourth season with the team. This year he has relatively solid stats: 8.8ppg, 10.5rpg, 2FGP: 46.7%, 3FGP: 27.8% and FT: 75.0%. Aminu is another player who holds two passports: Nigerian and American. Despite he played previously for the USA U19 national team, Aminu is currently a member of the Nigerian senior national team.

Abdullahi Kuso

   #4. Forward Abdullahi Kuso (206-84, college: Tallahassee CC, currently plays in Japan) led Gunma to an easy victory against the fourth-ranked Yamagata (4-5) 91-74 in the Japanese B2 League in Wednesday night's game. He had a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 15 rebounds. Kuso also added 4 assists and 2 blocks in 35 minutes. Gunma Crane Thunders (5-4) are placed third in East group. Kuso has reliable stats this year: 14.2ppg, 11.0rpg, 2.3apg, 2.0bpg and 1.2spg in nine games. He used to play for the Nigerian national team back in 2007.

International forward Emmanuel Omogbo (203-95, college: Colorado St., currently plays in Lithuania) led P.Zvaigzdes to a victory over the closely-ranked Lietkabelis (4-2) 87-81 in the Lithuanian LKL last Saturday. Omogbo was MVP of the game. He recorded 26 points (!!!) and grabbed 9 rebounds; not bad, considering it's only Omogbo's second season in pro basketball. Pieno Zvaigzdes Pasvalys (3-4) is placed fifth in the LKL. The Regular Season already ended. Omogbo has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 16.1ppg, 6.3rpg and 2.6spg. Omogbo has both American and Nigerian nationalities. He plays currently for the Nigerian national team.

Talib Zanna

   #6. Power forward Talib Zanna (206-90, college: Pittsburgh, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) contributed to a 2-point Baloncesto Fuenlabrada's victory against the seventh-ranked JDA Dijon (1-2) 87-85 in the Basketball Champions League on Wednesday night. He scored 7 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 19 minutes. Montakit Fuenlabrada (3-0) is placed first in group C. So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season. Zanna's stats this year are: 12.7ppg and 6.7rpg in three games. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Nigerian National Team roster.

   #7. Former international power forward Gani Lawal (206-88, agency: Octagon Europe, college: Georgia Tech, currently plays in Japan) was not able to help Shiga L-Stars (2-6) in their last game. Despite Lawal's very good performance the fifth-placed Shiga L-Stars (2-6) lost 76-80 in Yokohama to the lower-ranked (#6) Yokohama BC in the West group. He had a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 15 rebounds. Lawal also added 4 assists in 33 minutes. It was Shiga L-Stars' fourth consecutive loss in a row. It's Lawal's first season with the team. He has very impressive stats this year: 19.1ppg, 12.1rpg, 2.0apg and 1.6bpg in eight games. Lawal also holds two passports: Nigerian and American. He used to play for the Nigerian national team five years ago.

   #8. Guard Ike Iroegbu (188-95, college: Washington St., currently plays in Germany) was not able to secure a victory for Science City Jena (1-2) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Iroegbu's good performance Science City Jena was crushed 101-78 in Crailsheim by the lower-ranked Merlins (#13). He was the top scorer with 14 points. Iroegbu also added 4 passes. Iroegbu's stats this season are: 12.0ppg, 1.7rpg and 2.0apg. He plays currently for the Nigerian national team.

   #9. Former U22 international power forward Dinma Odiakosa (203-85, college: Illinois St., currently plays in France) contributed to an easy victory against the eighth-ranked Caen (1-1) crushing them 85-63 in the French ProB (second division) on Friday night. Odiakosa scored 12 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 22 minutes. Sluc Nancy Basket Pro (2-0) is placed first in the ProB. This year Odiakosa's overall stats are: 10.0ppg, 9.5rpg and 1.5apg in two games. He used to play for the Nigerian U22 national team fourteen years ago.

   #10. Power forward Alade Aminu (207-87, college: Georgia Tech, currently plays in Israel) couldn't help Hapoel Tel-Aviv (1-2) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Aminu's very good performance Hapoel Tel-Aviv was defeated 86-76 in Rosh Pina by the higher-ranked Galil Gilboa (#5). He was the top scorer with 17 points. Aminu also added 6 rebounds. Aminu averaged so far 13.3ppg, 5.7rpg and 1.7bpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Nigerian National Team roster.

   #11. International guard Obi Emegano (190-93, college: ORU, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) faced previously mentioned Talib Zanna in the Basketball Champions League last game. Emegano couldn't help JDA Dijon in their game against Baloncesto Fuenlabrada. He scored 7 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 24 minutes. His team was edged 87-85. This year Emegano's total stats are: 8.7ppg and 4.0rpg in three games. He plays currently for the Nigerian national team.

   #12. Former international small forward Jamal Olasewere (201-91, agency: HMS, college: LIU Brooklyn, currently plays in Italy) contributed to a Remer TVG's surprising victory against the leader Bergamo Bsk 85-81 in the Italian Serie A2 (second division) in Thursday night's game. Olasewere recorded 19 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Olasewere averaged so far 13.5ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.8spg. He holds both American and Nigerian passports. Olasewere used to play for the Nigerian national team back in 2016.

   #13. International power forward Lotanna Nwogbo (203-93, college: Longwood, currently plays in Argentina) helped Atenas win their game against the sixth-ranked Centro Deportivo Rivadavia de Mendoza crushing them 83-56 in the Argentinian La Liga Argentina (second division) in Saturday night's game. He recorded 18 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 22 minutes. Nwogbo averaged so far 11.0ppg, 4.5rpg and 1.5spg in two games. He holds both American and Nigerian passports. Nwogbo is also Nigerian national team player.

   #14. International point guard Braxton Ogbueze (185-93, college: Charlotte, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Leyma Basquet (0-3) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his very good performance Leyma Basquet was defeated 76-66 in Prat by the higher-ranked CB Prat (#13). Ogbueze was the top scorer with 15 points. Ogbueze has averaged so far 8.8ppg and 1.5rpg. He holds both American and Nigerian passports. Ogbueze plays currently for the Nigerian national team.

   #15. Former international forward Andy Ogide (204-87, also represented by HMS, college: Colorado St., currently plays in Italy) helped UCC Piacenza win their game against the 15th-ranked A.Costa IM crushing them 101-80 in the Italian Serie A2 (second division) last Sunday. He scored 13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 30 minutes. Ogide averaged so far 13.0ppg and 5.5rpg in four games. He used to play for the Nigerian national team two years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Nigerian passport but never been selected to any of Nigerian national teams:

   #1. Giannis Antetokounmpo (211-G/F-94, agency: Octagon Europe, currently plays in NBA) led Milwaukee Bucks to a victory over the Philadelphia 76ers (2-3) 123-108 in the NBA in Wednesday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Antetokounmpo had a triple-double by scoring 32 points, grabbing 18 rebounds and passing 10 assists in 37 minutes. The Milwaukee Bucks have 4-0 record this season. So far his team won all four games in the Regular Season. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Antetokounmpo's sixth year with the team. He has individually a very good season with high stats. Antetokounmpo averages: 28.5ppg, 16.5rpg, 6.8apg and 1.8bpg in four games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Greek and Nigerian.

   #2. Victor Oladipo (193-G-92, college: Indiana, currently plays in NBA) was the main contributor in an Indiana Pacers' victory against the Brooklyn Nets (2-2) crushing them 132-112 in the NBA last Saturday. Oladipo was MVP of the game. He scored 25 points, grabbed 7 boards, passed 3 assists and added 4 steals. The Indiana Pacers have 3-2 record this season. But the season just started, so everything may happen. This year Oladipo has very high stats. He averages: 21.4ppg, 5.8rpg, 4.2apg and 1.2spg. Oladipo is another player who holds two passports: Nigerian and American.

   #3. Abdul-Malik Abu (203-F-95, college: NC State, currently plays in Alpe-Adria-Cup) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked USK Praha (1-2) 86-69 in the Alpe Adria Cup last Tuesday. Abu was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 12 rebounds in 23 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Abu's first season in pro basketball. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. KK Vrijednosnice Osijek (1-1) is placed second in the Alpe Adria Cup. It's Abu's first year with the team. He has very impressive stats this season: 18.5ppg and 10.5rpg in two games.

   #4. Micheal Eric (210-C-88, college: Temple, currently plays in Euroleague) could not help Darussafaka (1-3) in their last game. Despite Eric's very good performance Darussafaka lost 71-79 at home to the higher-ranked (#7) FC Barcelona. He was the top scorer with 17 points. Eric also added 9 rebounds in 22 minutes. Eric's stats this year are: 12.5ppg, 8.0rpg and 1.3bpg in four games.

   #5. Tonye Jekiri (213-C-94, college: Miami, FL, currently plays in Turkey) was not able to help Gaziantep in their game against Sakarya BSB (1-2) in the Turkish BSL. He scored 9 points, had 12 rebounds and made 2 blocks. But Gaziantep was defeated 75-67 on the road by the lower-ranked Sakarya BSB (#11). Jekiri's stats this season are: 12.0ppg, 10.7rpg and 1.7apg.

   #6. Michael Ojo (216-C-93, college: Florida St., currently plays in ABA League) contributed to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked Igokea crushing them 96-75 in the ABA League last Saturday. Ojo recorded 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in only 14 minutes. This year Ojo's overall stats are: 8.3ppg and 5.0rpg in four games. Worth to mention he played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

   #7. Ike Joseph Udanoh (203-PF-89, also represented by Octagon Europe, college: Wayne St., MI, currently plays in Italy) contributed to an easy victory against the eighth-ranked Vanoli Cremona 96-79 in the Italian Serie A on Saturday night. He scored 6 points, had 10 rebounds and dished 4 assists. Udanoh's stats this season are: 12.7ppg, 10.0rpg, 5.7apg and 2.3spg. He has both American and Nigerian nationalities.

   #8. Josh Okogie (193-G-98, college: Georgia Tech, currently plays in NBA) was not able to secure a victory for the Minnesota Timberwolves (2-3) in their last game. Despite Okogie's good performance the Minnesota Timberwolves lost 105-112 in Toronto to the Raptors. He had a double-double by scoring 10 points and getting 11 rebounds in 27 minutes. Okogie's stats this year are: 9.3ppg, 6.7rpg and 1.3spg in three games. He also holds two passports: Nigerian and American. Despite Okogie's Nigerian nationality, he currently plays for the USA U19 national team and is not eligible to play for the Nigerian team.

   #9. Michael Fakuade (201-F-89, college: Ill.-Springfield, currently plays in France) contributed to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked Aix-Maurienne crushing them 89-62 in the French ProB (second division) last Saturday. Fakuade recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added 4 blocks. This season Fakuade has very high stats. He averages: 17.5ppg, 11.0rpg and 3.0bpg. Fakuade holds both American and Nigerian passports.

   #10. Rasheed Sulaimon (193-G-94, college: Maryland, currently plays in France) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked SIG Strasbourg 80-65 in the French ProA in Friday night's game. Sulaimon scored 9 points and had 4 steals. Sulaimon's overall stats this season are: 8.0ppg, 3.0rpg, 3.7apg and 1.3spg. He holds both American and Nigerian passports. Despite Sulaimon's Nigerian nationality, he previously played for the USA U19 national team and probably cannot be called to the Nigerian team.

The Nigeria Basketball Federation has announced the 27th of November 2018 as commencement date for the Total National Division 1 League.
