JELEEL AKINDELE

Fuerza Regia Monterrey (LNBP) agreed terms with experienced 35-year old Nigerian international center Jeleel Akindele (216-110kg-83, college: Chicago State, agency: BeoBasket). It is actually his comeback to Fuerza Regia as he has played here before. Akindele played last summer at Capitanes de Arecibo in Puerto Rican BSN league. Quite impressive season as he was named to Latinbasket.com All-Puerto Rican BSN Honorable Mention and League Player of the Week. The last season he played at Yalova Bld (TBL) in league where in 20 games he had 14.2ppg, 9.1rpg (#4 in the league), 2.2apg and 1.1spg.
Akindele also represented Nigeria at the Afrobasket Championships last year. His team won Silver and his stats at that event were 6 games: 5.7ppg, 6.7rpg, 1.0apg, FGP: 61.1%, 3PT: 50.0%, FT: 75.0%.
Akindele is quite experienced player. His career allowed him to visit four different continents, while he played in twelve different countries. Akindele tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in China, France, Iran (Petrochimi), Italy (Deco), Lebanon (Champville), Russia, Spain (Gran Canaria and Baloncesto Fuenlabrada), Venezuela (Marinos), Montenegro (Buducnost), Dominican Republic (Metros de Santiago and Dosa) and Turkey (Yesilgiresun Bld).
It's very possible he may end his playing career at Fuerza Regia.
Akindele attended Chicago State until 2005 and it will be his 14th (!!!) season as a professional player.
On Akindele: A raw, athletic big man with great shotblocking ability.
