Fuerza Regia Monterrey (LNBP) agreed terms with 33-year old Nigeria center Jeleel Akindele (216-110kg-83, college: Chicago State, agency: BeoBasket). He played last summer at Vaqueros de Bayamon in Puerto Rican BSN league. Akindele managed to play in three leagues in three countries last year. In 52 BSN games he had 14.7ppg, 8.8rpg, 2.5apg and 1.1bpg. He helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final. Quite impressive season as he was named to Latinbasket.com Puerto Rican BSN All-Imports Team.
The most of last season Akindele spent at Petrochimi (Superleague) in Iran where in 12 games he recorded 3.4ppg, 4.0rpg and 1.1apg. Akindele also played that season for Yesilgiresun Bld in Turkish BSL. In two games he averaged 13.0ppg, 11.0rpg, 1.0apg and 1.0spg.
Akindele's team won Montenegrin Cup in 2014.
He played at the WABA Clubs Championships three years ago.
Akindele is quite experienced player. His career allowed him to visit four different continents, while he played in eight different countries. Akindele tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in China (Jiangsu Tongxi), France, Italy (Juvecaserta and Mens Sana Siena), Lebanon (Champville), Russia (Spartak Primorie Vladivostok), Spain (Gran Canaria and Baloncesto Fuenlabrada), Montenegro (Buducnost) and Dominican Republic (Metros de Santiago).
Akindele attended Chicago State until 2005 and it will be his twelfth (!!!) season as a professional player.
On Akindele: A raw, athletic big man with great shotblocking ability.
