Emeka Okafor
EMEKA OKAFOR

Philadelphia 76ers agreed terms with experienced 36-year old American ex-international power forward Emeka Okafor (208-116kg-82, college: Connecticut). It is actually his comeback to the 76ers as he has played here before. Okafor is a dual citizen owning also Nigerian passport.
The most of last season Okafor spent at Delaware 87ers where in 26 League games he had 6.8ppg, 8.0rpg and 1.4apg. Okafor also spent pre-season at the 76ers earlier that year. He helped them to make it to the conference semifinals.
In 2004 Okafor was drafted by Charlotte Bobcats as #2 pick overall. He attended University of Connecticut and it will be his 15th (!!!) season in pro basketball. Okafor was a member of USA Senior National Team between 2003 and 2004.
He has spent his entire career in NBA playing for two other teams: Phoenix Suns and Washington Wizards.
Okafor is close to retirement age as a player. It's very possible he may end his playing career at Phi.76ers.
On Okafor: Expected to see duty at both center and power forward. Very mobile big man with excellent defensive skills. Outstanding shot blocker.
Outlook (by NBADraft.TK):
Postives: Phenomenal shot blocker. He already has NBA ready shot blocking and rebounding skills. Great defensive instincts and good timing on his shot blocking. Of coarse his frame and long arms help him block shots well. Very athletic and solid work ethic. Has the drive to become a great player. Always willing to improve his game and has a lot heart. His offense is definitely solid and continues to expand it with added low post moves and a midrange shot. Good touch and finisher around the basket. Aggresive at banging the boards at both ends of the floor. Unbelievable attitude towards the game. The closest thing to a sure thing in this year's draft.
Negatives: Free throw shooting is a problem. Offensive skills are greatly improving year after year, but could use some polish. Passing in general could use improvements. Bad hands in the post and turns it over too much in the post
.
