Elephant Girls cement Mozambique Ticket- October 29, 2016Nigerian Champions, First Bank Basketball club (Elephant Girls) of Lagos consolidated on their quest to make the finals of the FIBA Africa Champions cup in Mozambique with a 103-58 mauling of STTC SC of Niger Republic in their penultimate of the qualifiers currently taking place in Lome, Togo. Veteran center Chioma Udeaja led the Nigerian champions with 21 points and 10 rebounds, with international team mate Nkem Akaraiwe (185-F-96) adding a double-double 13 points , 13 rebounds and MVP at the last Zone 3 championship Nkechi Akashili (175-G-90) adding 17 points in a dominant display by the Nigerians. The much improved STC side was led by Kouma Tahirou Aissata 26 points and Zaratou Abou adding 14 points as they lost all four quarters (12-32) (11-25) (18-20) (17-26), and their fourth and final game of the tournament. Elephant Girls already defeated their opponents 104-38 in their first meeting in the 3 team Zonal qualifiers in Lome, cemented a place in the Finals holding in Mozambique later this year with the win. Later in the day, Kano Pillars defeated Nigelec of Togo 71~47, rushing them both defensive and offensively in all four quarters. Today, the board members of the FIBA Africa Zone 3 would be having a basketball summit which comprises of all Presidents of each Basketball Federation and special invited guests in attendance. |
