International School of South Africa hosts Basketball Festival

The International School of South Africa recently hosted a Basketball Festival over the weekend, which saw two Namibian schools, Deutsche Hoehere Privatschule Windhoek - DHPS and Windhoek High School, take part in the event. The festival was held from the 17th to the 19th of March 2023 and featured a series of competitive games between various schools from across South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe. The festival provided an excellent opportunity for players from both schools to develop their skills, as well as to gain valuable experience playing against some of the top schools in South Africa and also from Zimbabwe. The tournament also served as a great platform for players to showcase their talents and catch the eye of scouts and coaches from other schools and organizations. DHPS Phoenix basketball team has made history by winning the Girls Division of the International School of South Africa Basketball Festival for the second year in a row. The team showed great determination and skill throughout the tournament, dominating their opponents and securing the championship title. Led by their talented and experienced coach, the DHPS Phoenix team worked hard and played with intensity to secure their victory. Their excellent teamwork, precise passes, and strong defence helped them to stand out from the competition and claim the championship. The team's impressive performance was a result of their dedication and hard work in training and preparation leading up to the tournament. Their focus, commitment, and discipline paid off, as they showcased their skills and talent on the court and emerged victorious. DHPS (Deutsche Hoehere Privatschule), the basketball team is led by Coach Melusi and Coach Carmen. At WHS (Windhoek High School), the basketball team is coached by Coach Don. Overall, the International School of South Africa Basketball Festival was a huge success, with DHPS and Windhoek High School putting on excellent performances throughout the tournament. It was an exciting event for basketball fans and players alike, and it is sure to have a positive impact on basketball in Namibia going forward.
