Windhoek After successfully finalizing all regional trials, the Namibian Basketball Federation (NBF) wasted no time and guardedly selected two strong Under-20 preliminary national squads.
In a three-day clinic conducted at the Augustineum Secondary School in Windhoek, 40 girls and boys from all over Namibia underwent rigorous training on a tight schedule. Following athletic tests, ball handling tests, shooting contests, 1 on 1 contests, 3-3 and 5-5 games, the NBF selected its two preliminary squads for the Zone VI U-20 Youth Games slated for Zambia in December.
The boys' team is as follows: Fillemon Auwanga, Paita Cecilio, Iyaloo Fransiseo, McDonald Garab, Tayson Haimbodi, Landuleni Iipinge, Andrew Oletu, Stephen Kaluwa, Raphael Paulus, Tuhafeni Shinyama, Reginald Sisande, Albino Siwongo.
The girls' team is led by Shakira Ajam and consists of Aily Alfeus, Lizanne Cloete, Frieda Kolowali, Sylvia Nampadhi, Vanessa Neumann, Saima Sakaria, Alma Samuel, Hertha Shimuketa, Victoria Shilongo, Nina Simao, Yolanda Tobias.
On call are Onesmus Haipa, Titus Paulus, Isack Uutoni for the boys and Marjory Harases. Those on standby are Lyn Lucas, Teopolina Shikulo for the girls. Respected basketball coach Frank Albin, assisted by the coaches and administrators Jasmin Dieler, Thomas Elikana, Simon Gerv, Intila Katambo, Nande Kayala, Istvan Olivier, Pondo Nailenge, Inga Riemann, Francina Shilongo and Yyvonne Washaya took charge of the trials.
