Sasol League - Costa do Sol becomes two-time National Champion

On Saturday, 3 December 2022 Costa do Sol triumphed as the National Senior Women's Basketball Champions for the second consecutive time after beating Ferroviario de Maputo by 62-51, setting in 2-0 the result of the best-of-three play-off of the Final of the Sasol League 2022. After winning the first final, by 52-63, the Canarinhas won again by 11 points difference, conquering the title that was in dispute at the Pavilhao do Maxaquene, in Maputo, since 21 November. The Women's National Basketball Championship was played by 8 teams, namely: A Politecnica, Clube Municipal da Beira, Costa do Sol, Lazio de Maputo, Ferroviario da Beira, Ferroviario de Maputo, Maxaquene and Mucopelinhas de Nacala. The next edition of the Sasol League is scheduled for November next year. Sasol sponsors the championship through a Memorandum of Understanding signed with Liga Mocambicana de Basquete - LMB, for the 2021, 2022 and 2023 seasons. The agreement also provides for the allocation of 24% of the budget for the development of basketball in Inhambane, through institutional support to the Provincial Basketball Association, help in holding provincial competitions, and promotion of local competitions in Govuro, Inhassoro and Vilankulo, districts that host Sasol operations.
