Rwandan champions Patriots have progressed to the semi-finals of the ongoing Basketball Africa League after edging out Mozambique's Ferroviario de Maputo in quarter-finals. Patriots were the last team to confirm their last four slot following a narrow 73-71 win over Ferroviario at Kigali Arena on Thursday evening. Presidents Paul Kagame and France's Emmanuel Macron, who is on a two-day visit to Rwanda, attended the tightly fought game. Rwanda international Kenny Gasana (195-G-84, college: Boise St.) bagged the man of the match accolade after his game-high 23 points inspired Patriots to the semi-finals. The home side will face Tunisia's US Monastir on Saturday. US Monastir secured their semis spot after dominating Senegalese side AS Douanes 86-62 in Thursday's first quarter-final. In another semi-final clash, also due on Saturday, Egypt's Zamalek will be up against Petro de Luanda of Angola.
