Zamalek top Maputo to open win count at Basketball Africa League

Zamalek registered the opening victory at the Basketball Africa League. They beat Ferroviario de Maputo at the Kigali Arena tonight. Walter Hodge (183-PG-86, college: Florida) posted 17 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners.
Zamalek recorded a 16-13 lead after ten minutes. Maputo pulled within a single point at the big break 33-34. But Zamalek held their opponents to just 9 points in the third term to secure a 7-point advantage. Zamalek followed with a 22-13 run in the fourth quarter to ensure the victory. Michael Fakuade (201-F-89, college: UIS, agency: Slash Sports) netted 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Zamalek. Alvaro Calvo (202-SF-83, agency: Interperformances) responded with 24 points and 11 rebounds for Maputo.
