Mozambique won over Algeria in Abidjan at the 2013 Afrobasket. They posted a 78:56 win at the start of the Classification Round for 9-16 places.
Both teams scored 13 points each in the first period, while Mozambique pushed the tempo later in the first half. They won the second frame 26-11 and led 15 points at the halftime. Moreover Mozambique produced two narrow victories in the second half to seal the total success. Mozambique needed a 19-18 rally in the third quarter and then closed the game with a 20-14 run.
Octavio Magolico (200-C-84) top-scored for the winners with 17 points and Ermelindo Novela (G-91) as well as Augusto Matos (186-PG-90) had 11 each. Edson Monjane (200-C-89) finished the game with 10 points each. Hocine Gaham (194-G/F-86) replied with 13 points in defeat and Abdallah Hamdini (92) netted 10. Mehdi Cheriet (204-PF-87, agency: Fusion Sports, college: San Diego St.) delivered 8 points and 14 rebounds, whilst Mohamed Seddik Touati (C-87) also scored 8.
