Defending champion Al Alhy Benghazi (D1) agreed terms with 31-year old American guard Chris Crawford (193cm-100kg-1992, college: Memphis) for upcoming 2023-24 season. Crawford was about to sign at AS Sale in Moroccan DEX-H.
He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2014.
Crawford is quite experienced player. He has played in eleven different countries on four different continents (Asia, Latin America, Africa and of course North America). Crawford has played previously professionally in France, Iraq (Al Shurtah), Lebanon (Beirut Club, Homentmen and Louaize), Mexico (Caballeros de Culiacan), Syria (Al Wahda), Tunisia (US Monastir, Ezzahra and Club Africain), NBA (Memphis Grizzlies), Senegal (Douanes), NBA G League (Iowa Wolves and Cleveland Charge), The Basketball Tournament (Memphis State and Bluff City) and Guinea (Seydou Legacy Athletique Club Conakry). His team won C-USA Tournament in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was voted to Asia-Basket.com Lebanese League All-Imports Team back in 2018.
He graduated from University of Memphis in 2014 and it is his tenth season as a professional player.
