D1 Round 5: AREH lose to AS Sale

The most important game of round 5 took place in Sale between two undefeated teams where AS Sale crushed AREH (3-1) 81-56 on Thursday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of AREH. It was a key game for the top position in the league. AS Sale have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion (4-0) keeps a position of league leader. Newly promoted AREH dropped to the third place with one game lost. They share the position with Majd T.. They were replaced at the leadership position by AS Sale. AREH will play next round against OCY trying to make it back to the top of the standings. AS Sale will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked IRT Tanger at home.
Important game to mention about took place in Tanger. Fifth ranked Majd T. (3-1) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 4th placed FUS Rabat (2-2) 83-80 on Saturday evening. Majd T. have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with AREH. FUS Rabat at the other side dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. They share it with MAS Fez and Larache. Majd T. will play against MAS Fez (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. FUS Rabat will play against Club Bni in Yznasn and hopes to get back on the winning track.
KACM has registered their first victory this season after three consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat OCY (1-3) 101-69 on Saturday. KACM left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with defeated OCY. KACM will meet higher ranked Larache (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. OCY will play against AREH and hope to win that game.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 5: RCA Casabl. destroyed Club Bni on the opponent's court 111-40. IRT Tanger managed to outperform RCA Casabl. in a home game 77-71. MAS Fez managed to beat WAC on the road 61-58.

There was a small surprise when seventh ranked IRT Tanger (3-2) defeated at home 5th ranked RCA Casabl. (3-2) 77-71 on Saturday. IRT Tanger moved-up to fifth place, which they share with defeated RCA Casabl. IRT Tanger will meet league's leader AS Sale on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. RCA Casabl. will have a break next round.

WAC - MAS Fez 58-61

Not a big story in a game in Casablanca where bottom-ranked WAC (0-4) was edged by ninth ranked MAS Fez (2-2) 61-58 on Saturday. MAS Fez moved-up to seventh place, which they share with FUS Rabat and Larache. Loser WAC still closes the standings with four games lost. MAS Fez will meet at home higher ranked Majd T. (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. WAC will play against the league's second-placed FAR Rabat (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
