Mali started strong, taking a 20-14 lead in the first quarter before extending their advantage with a dominant 24-14 second period to go into halftime ahead 44-28. They maintained control in the third, outscoring Liberia 14-9 to stretch the gap to 21 points. Although Liberia fought back valiantly in the fourth with a 20-11 surge, it was too little too late as Mali’s early dominance secured them a 12-point victory.
