Virtus Segafredo Bologna (Serie A) agreed terms with 23-year old Mali international center
Aliou Diarra (208cm-2001) for new 2025-26 season. Diarra played this summer at
Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Summer League. He managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year. In two NBA Summer League games just recently he had 7.5ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.0apg. Diarra also played for
APR Basketball Club Kigali in Rwandan RBL where in 18 NBA Summer League games he recorded very impressive stats: 18.0ppg, 11.1rpg, 2.0apg, 1.3spg and 2.4bpg. He helped them to win the Supercup. Great season as he was voted Afrobasket.com All-Rwandan League Import Player of the Year, Afrobasket.com All-Rwandan League Defensive Player of the Year and Afrobasket.com All-Rwandan League Player of the Year. Diarra also played 8 games in Basketball Africa League where he averaged remarkable 17.4ppg, 11.4rpg, 2.9apg, 1.4spg and 3.3bpg. He contributed to his team making it to the semifinals. A very spectacular season in his career as he was selected Afrobasket.com All-Basketball Africa League Defensive Player of the Year, named to All-Defensive Team and League Player of the Week. Diarra has been regularly called to Mali Senior National Team since 2023.
He has played also professionally in Morocco (FUS Rabat), Mali (Stade) and NBA Summer League (Milwaukee Bucks).
Diarra won Rwandan League championship title in 2024.
