Modibo Diaby

BC Rm Valcea 2nd team (Liga I) agreed terms with Mali shooting guard Modibo Diaby (202cm, agency: BIG) for upcoming 2023-24 season. Diaby will still stay in Romania where he played last season at CS SCM Timisoara (Liga Nationala). Liga Nationala was a little too high level for him, where in two Liga Nationala games he had just 1.0ppg. Liga I will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time.
He won Romanian U18 League championship title in 2019 and 2021 and the Supercup in 2022 and 2023.
The previous (2021-22) season he played at Steaua (also in Liga Nationala). Liga Nationala was a little too high level for him, where in 15 Liga Nationala games he recorded only 0.9ppg and 1.5rpg in that year.
He represented Mali at the African Championship U18 in Cairo (Egypt) three years ago. His team won Gold and his stats at that event were 5 games: 3.2ppg, 6.0rpg, 1.0spg.
He previously for five other teams: Cluj Napoca, CS Universitatea Cluj Napoca, UBT Cluj, Cluj-Napoca and Cluj Napoca.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-EYBL U20 2nd Team in 2022. Diaby won Romanian U18 League championship title in 2019 and 2021 and the Supercup in 2022 and 2023.
