Petro win in AfroLeague's first round

Petro de Luanda squad began well on Friday their campaign in group D of the African clubs championship in basketball, now being dubbed AfroLeague, by beating in Antananarivo (Madagascar) the local COSPN team by 99-76. By the end of the first half, Petro were already winning by 41-33. Petro's Olimpio Cipriano (194-F-82) was the best scorer with 18 points. This Saturday, Petro de Luanda are facing BC Mazembe from DRC, who last Friday lost 65-78 to Smouha of Egypt. Petro de Luanda are vying for their third continental trophy, after winning it in 2006 and 2015. AS Sale of Morocco are the defending champions.
