Nigeria forward Mactabene Amachree has dumped the Nigeria Women National Team, dTigress taking part in the 21st FIBA Africa Championship for Women in Antananarivo, Madagascar.

The Nigerian forward was said to have demanded to be excluded from the team after just two days into the championship over a disagreement with the team Head Coach, Ayo Bakare.

Amachree who play professional basketball with MERSIN BSH BLD basketball team in the Turkish league has since returned to Nigeria leaving the Nigeria team with only eleven players.

Effort to get to the root of the face-off between the coach and the players from the Nigeria officials hit brick wall as no official of the Nigeria team is prepared to offer explanation as to why the player left the camp.

Our investigation revealed that the player has had a lot of face-off with the coach before the team depart Nigeria for the championship which almost forces the coach to drop her from the team but had a change of mind whether the player will change her attitude.

It was reported that the problem started when the player asked to be left out of a warm-up game against a selected side in Lagos which was turned down by the coach who is of the view that every member of the team is important to the cause of the nation.

Amachree who has been a member of the Nigeria national team for almost a decade will surely be missed by the Nigerian team currently campaigning for honours in Madagascar.

Though the team have gone to win her game against Tunisia without her services but basketball pundit in Madagascar are of the opinion that the Nigeria team will miss Amachree but an official of the Nigerian team who spoke on condition of anonymity says her departure from the team is a good sign.

According to the official, Amachree attitude which he refer as unprofessional is capable of dividing the team.
