Nigeria senior women national team, DTigress will on Wednesday resume training at the national stadium, Lagos ahead the 21st edition of the FIBA Africa Championship for Women holding in Antananarivo, Madagascar from October 8 through 18.
The Nigeria women who wade off stiff challenges from fellow FIBA Africa Zone-III rejuvenated Cote dIvoire side to pick the zone sole ticket last week in Lagos will commence full practice session with the twelve players that qualify the country for the battle of Antananarivo.
Disclosing this to our correspondent is the team head coach, Ayo Bakare who said time is running out on the team preparedness for the Africa biggest women basketball showpiece.
The team will have it first training session from 12.30 through 16.00 hours on Wednesday while modality is being worked out for the team other training schedule to be released by the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) in conjunction with the coaching crew.
Players expected in Wednesday practice includes, Mfon Udoka, Funmilayo Ojelabi, Tamunomiete Whyte, Rashidat Sadiq, Magdalene Ukato, Vera Angwe-Ellong, Chioma Udeaja, Vivian Ewalefo, Ijeoma Uchendu, Nkechi Akashili, Amaka Adibeli and Ekebo Ima-Obong while the Bakare led-coaching crew await final approval from the federation on the call up of other players.
The duo of Turkish-based Mactabene Amachere, Adeola Olanrewaju and Charity Egenti who is based in Ukraine are being expected before the weekend to bring the number of players who will jostle for the twelve-man roster to fifteen.
Bakare says all the returning and newly invited players will be given equal opportunity of fighting for a shirt to represent the country in Madagascar.
Nigeria is drawn in Group-B alongside defending champion, Mali, Tunisia, Angola, Rwanda and Guinea with her opening game on October 9 against defending champion, Mali.
