Tunisia celebrated their first win in the Afrobasket 2007 tournament in Senegal. After two loses at the start of the competition Tunisia finally found their touch and handled Madagascar. The victory saw North African side improve to 1-2 record and they revived their chances of qualifying to the quarterfinal stage.
The game was pretty close at the start and the lead changed hands a couple of times before Lydia Raoanirina and Nahirae Solinasoa nailed 5 straight points to put Madagascar in front 13:8. A 6:0 run early in the second quarter allowed Tunisia to regain the lead 16:15. But Ange Rasoambolanoro replied with a three pointer and Nirina Rabemiarana added another two points to lift Madagascar ahead 24:20 at the end of the first half. Both teams kept t close before Maha Chelly (-82) sparked a run away effort for Tunisia. Her jump shot marked a 34:28 advantage for Tunisian team late in the third stanza. However Ange Rasoambolanoro would return Madagascar side into 2-point territory entering the final term 32:34. But Tunisia survived late stages of the game and managed to delive where it counted most. Mouna Khriji (-76) and Fatma Barkallah drained three pointers late in regulation to ensure Tunisian victory.
Thouraya Adsi (-82) led Tunisia with 9 points and 5 rebounds. Fatma Barkallah added 9 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Ange Rasoambolanoro replied with 12 points for Madagascar. Nahirae Solinasoa netted 6 points and grabbed 7 boards in a loss.
Tunisia now reached 4th spot in Group A ladder.
