Al Ahly Benghazi (D1) added 33-year-old South Sudanese international forward Majok Deng (205cm-84kg-1993, college: ULM) to their roster. It marks his return to Benghazi, where he previously played. Deng recently competed for Tasmania JackJumpers in the Australian NBL league, averaging 10.8ppg and 4.9rpg in 29 games. Prior to that, he played for Al Ittihad Jeddah in the Saudi Arabian league and Al Ittihad Alexandria in the Egyptian league.
Deng has attempted to reach the NBA and participated in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2016.
He also represented South Sudan at the FIBA Olympic Games in Paris (France) two years ago. During this event, he scored an average of 3 points per game and had 3 rebounds per game.
Thanks to his pro career, Deng managed to play on four different continents - Asia, Australia, Africa, and North America. He has played professionally in Saudi Arabia and Libya for Ahly Benghazi.
Among many awards, he played in the final of the Egyptian League in 2025. He was also voted Afrobasket.com All-Basketball Africa League Forward of the Year in 2025.
Deng graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 2016 and is currently in his tenth season as a professional player. He also played for Indian Hills Community College for one year.
