Defending champion Al Alhy Benghazi (D1) agreed terms with experienced 36-year old Bosnian ex-international center Elmedin Kikanovic (211cm-105kg-1988). Kikanovic played this summer at Al Riyadi in Lebanese LBL league. He managed to play in four leagues in two countries last year (!!!). In two LBL games just recently he had 14.0ppg, 4.0rpg and 1.0apg. Kikanovic also played 5 games in Basketball Champions League Asia where just recently he recorded 9.0ppg and 4.8rpg. The last season he played at Al Arabi in Qatari QBL. The team played in three different competitions that year, and he had a chance to explore basketball on different levels. In 20 Qatari QBL games he averaged impressive 22.1ppg, 11.7rpg and 2.9apg. He helped them to win the league title and the cup. A very impressive season as he was voted Asia-Basket.com All-Qatar QBL Player of the Year, Import Player of the Year and Center of the Year. Kikanovic also played 3 games in West Asia Super League where he got remarkable 23.0ppg, 9.3rpg and 2.0apg.
He was also a member of Bosnia and Herzegovina international program for some years. Kikanovic played for Bosnia and Herzegovina Senior National Team between 2006 and 2018 and previously for U18 National Team back in 2006.
He also represented Bosnia at the Qualifications to European Championship (FIBA EuroBasket) 2017 nine years ago. His stats at that event were 4 games: 5.0ppg, 1.0rpg.
Kikanovic is quite experienced player. Kikanovic's career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in ten different countries. He tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia and Africa. Kikanovic has played previously professionally in France (Monaco and Sluc Nancy), Germany (ALBA Berlin), Italy, Kuwait (Kuwait), Russia (Enisey), Serbia (Crvena zvezda), Turkey (Ormanspor), Bosnia (OKK Sloboda Tuzla), United Arab Emirates (Al Sharjah) and Libya (Al Nasr).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was also selected Asia-Basket.com All-Lebanese League Player of the Year in 2024.
He is close to retirement age as a player. It's very possible he may end his playing career at Ahly Benghazi.
