Al-Muharraq (Premier League) agreed terms with experienced 35-year old American (has also Libyan passport) swingman Tony Mitchell (198cm-98kg-1989, college: Alabama) for new 2024-25 season. It is actually his comeback to Al Muharraq as he has played here before. Mitchell already started the season at Union de Santa Fe in Argentinian La Liga, but left the team in Nov.'24,. In 7 games he had 12.4ppg, 3.1rpg and 1.0spg. The last season he played at Al Ahly (Superleague) in Egyptian league. He helped them to make it to the Egyptian League final after they ended regular season as second best team. Mitchell also played for Ahly Benghazi (D1) in Libyan league. The other team he played shortly was Beirut Club in Lebanese LBL where in 7 games he recorded 10.9ppg, 4.1rpg, 2.4apg and 1.3spg.
He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2015. Mitchell has been regularly called to Libyan Senior National Team since 2023.
He is quite experienced player. His career allowed him to visit six different continents, while he played in sixteen different countries. Mitchell tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, Latin America, Australia, Africa and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in Australia (Taipans), China (Chongqing), Israel (Hapoel Eilat), Italy (Cantu and Pistoia), Morocco (AS Sale), Philippines, Puerto Rico (Fajardo and Indios), Russia, Spain, Taiwan (TB Mitchellrobears), Uruguay (Aguada), Venezuela (Trotamundos), NBA (Miami Heat), Argentina (Penarol), Dominican Republic (Soles) and Bahrain (Bahrain Club).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was voted to Latinbasket.com Puerto Rican BSN All-Imports Team back in 2017.
He graduated from University of Alabama in 2012 and it is his 13th (hopefully lucky) (!!!) season as a professional player.
