Al Ahly Tripoli (D1) inked 32-year old Nigerian-Canadian 193cm guard Kelvin Amayo (college: LMU, agency: DBA Reed). Amayo is the second import player in the roster as South Sudanese Deng Deng signed here earlier.
He played this summer at Rivers Hoopers in Nigerian DStv PBL. In 10 Basketball Africa League games just recently he recorded very impressive stats: 16.0ppg, 5.2rpg, 6.5apg (top 2) and 2.1spg. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. Great season indeed as he was voted to Afrobasket.com All-Basketball Africa League Second Team.
He is a very experienced player. Amayo has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to four different continents (Europe, Asia, Africa and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in Georgia (Zestaponi), Iran (Chemidor, Azarshahr and Sanaye), Mali (Stade) and The Basketball Tournament (Johnnies).
Among many awards he won Mali League championship title in 2023. Amayo received Asia-Basket.com All-Iranian Superleague Player of the Year award and Asia-Basket.com All-Iranian Superleague Defensive Player of the Year award back in 2020.
He graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 2017 and it will be his eighth season in pro basketball. Amayo played for other colleges like: Iona College, Marshall University, Towson University.
