Rasid Mahalbasic

Al Ahly Benghazi (D1) signed 33-year-old Austrian-Slovenian international center Rasid Mahalbasic (210cm-120kg-1990) for the upcoming 2024-25 season. He played last season at Halc.Xalapa in the Mexican LNBP. In 9 BCL Americas games, he had 11.1ppg, 5.3rpg, 2.7apg, and 1.0spg. He also spent the pre-season at Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana (Liga Nova KBM) in the Slovenian league. Mahalbasic also played 2 games in Eurocup where he recorded just 1.0ppg and 2.0rpg.
He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2013.
Mahalbasic has been a member of the Austrian international program for some years. He has regularly played for the Austrian senior team since 2008 and previously for the Under 20 National Team in 2010.
Mahalbasic also represented Austria at the European Championships (FIBA EuroBasket) 2021 Pre-Qualifiers five years ago. During this event he scored an average of 11 ppg and had 6.3 rpg.
He is a quite experienced player. Mahalbasic has played professionally in Austria, Bosnia, Croatia (Split), France (Monaco), Germany (EWE Baskets), Italy, Kazakhstan (Astana), Poland (Suzuki Arka), Russia (BC Nizhny Novgorod), Slovenia (Zlatorog), Spain (Breogan Lugo, Real Betis and Hereda San Pablo Burgos), Turkey (Tofas, Fenerbahce and Yesilgiresun) and Czech Republic (Nymburk). His team made it to the Basketball Champions League Americas Semifinals in 2024.
Among many awards, he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Spanish LEB Gold Honorable Mention in 2023.
