Defending champion Al Alhy Benghazi (D1) added to their roster 32-year old American point guard Trae Golden (189cm-93kg-1991, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Slash Sports) for new 2023-24 season. Golden moved there from Sichuan Blue Whales in Chinese CBA league where he played this season. In 38 games he had very impressive stats: 33.3ppg, 5.5rpg and 7.7apg. He was also named League Player of the Week.
Golden is quite experienced player. Golden's career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in seven different countries. He tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia and of course North America. Golden has played previously professionally also in Cyprus (Etha), Finland (Kobrat), France (Le Portel), Italy (Chieti), Russia (Avtodor), Turkey (Bahcesehir) and China (Sturgeons and Royal Fighters). He was also voted to Eurobasket.com FIBA Europe Cup All-Imports Team back in 2018 and 2020.
His college team made it to the Cypriot Cup Final Four in 2016.
Golden graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2014 and it is his tenth season as a professional player. He played also for University of Tennessee for 3 years.
