Defending champion Al Alhy Benghazi (D1) has signed 29-year-old Australian-South Sudanese 213cm center Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. (college: Baylor). He previously played for Melbourne United in the Australian NBL league, where he averaged 15.1ppg, 7.9rpg, 1.2apg, and 1.4bpg in 21 games and was named League Player of the Week twice. Lual-Acuil Jr. also played for Dynamo (LBL) in the Lebanese league and Monkey Kings (CBA) in the Chinese league.
He is a very experienced player, thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in six different countries playing on four different continents. He is familiar with European, Asian, Australian and of course North American leagues. He has played previously professionally in China, Hungary (Atomeromu), Israel (Hapoel Jerusalem and Galil Elion), Lebanon and NBA Summer League (Phoenix Suns).
He's a very experienced player, having played in six different countries on four continents thanks to pro basketball. He's familiar with European, Asian, Australian, and North American leagues, having played professionally in China, Hungary (Atomeromu), Israel (Hapoel Jerusalem and Galil Elion), Lebanon, and the NBA Summer League (Phoenix Suns).
He won the Australian NBL championship title in 2021 and was selected as the Australiabasket.com All-Australian NBL Domestic Player of the Year in 2022.
He graduated from Baylor University in 2018 and is now in his sixth season in pro basketball. He also played for Neosho County Community College for 2 years.
