Al Nasr Benghazi (D1) signed the experienced 64-year-old Egyptian coach Ahmed Marei. He had previously started the season at Zamalek- coached for another Egyptian team, Al Ittihad Alexandria (Superleague) in Egypt. He coached Egypt at the Albert Schweitzer International Tournament in Mannheim, which is considered the unofficial World Championship for U18 teams, five years ago. He has also coached professionally in the United Arab Emirates (Shabab Al Ahli) and Libya (Al Morog). He was honored as the Afrobasket.com All-Egyptian Superleague Coach of the Year in 2020.
