Defending champion Al Alhy Benghazi (D1) agreed terms with 30-year old American guard Zach Lofton (193cm-82kg-1992, college: NM State, agency: Slash Sports) for new 2023-24 season. Lofton was about to sign at Dynamo in Lebanese LBL league. The last season he played also at Dynamo (LBL) where in 34 games he was league's fifth best scorer with impressive 22.8ppg and averaged 4.5rpg, 4.5apg and 1.8spg. He helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final. A very impressive season as he was voted Asia-Basket.com All-Lebanese League Guard of the Year, named to All-Imports Team and League Player of the Week (2 times).
Lofton is quite experienced player. Lofton's career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in six different countries. He tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia and of course North America. Lofton has played previously professionally in China (Liaoning Yi Sheng), Germany (Seawolves), Kuwait (Kazma), NBA G League (Grand Rapids Gold), NBA Summer League (Milwaukee Bucks) and The Basketball Tournament (Panamaniacs). His team won SWAC Tournament in 2017 and 2018.
He was also selected All-SWAC Player of the Year back in 2017.
Lofton graduated from New Mexico State University in 2018 and it is his sixth season as a professional player. He played for other colleges like: Texas Southern University, University of Minnesota, Illinois State University, San Jacinto College.
