Al-Ahly Tripoli wins Libyan Basketball League for an eighth time-Jul 14, 2024
Al-Ahly Tripoli won the Libyan Basketball League title for the eighth time in its history, after defeating Al-Hilal (101-71) at the Great Hall in Tripoli on Saturday evening, as part of the final round of the seven-round tournament for the 2023-2024 season. With this victory, Al-Ahly Tripoli raised its score to 22 points, leading the standings of the seven-round teams to win the Basketball League title, while Al-Ahly Benghazi came in second place with 21 points, so that the title ultimately went to Al-Ahly Tripoli. After the match, the Libyan Basketball Federation handed over the Libyan League Cup to the Al-Ahly Tripoli team, in the presence of a number of figures, led by the Minister of Sports, Abdel Shafi Al-Juwaifi, the President of the Olympic Committee, Jamal Al-Zarrouq, and the President of the Libyan Basketball Federation, Fuad Barghash. Al Ahly Benghazi - Al Ittihad 57-55 Al Ahly Benghazi clinched SuperCup title. They overcame Al Ittihad 57-55 in the Final game. Ghayth Almaghribi (206-F/C-1999) was named MVP of the game as he collected 9 points and 17 rebounds. Al Ittihad grabbed a 19-14 run and led 6 points at the halftime. Al Ahly Benghazi meanwhile needed a 12-9 run in the third quarter and closed the campaign with a 17-12 rally. |
